Today is the big day! Can Nuguse and Hoey qualify for Tokyo? We'll find out soon!
The discus competition is underway, so we can now discus!
Jakob would have outkicked this teenage wonder wannabe easily! 3:29.20 is a walk in the park for Ingebrigtsen.
When's the last time Jakob didn't run faster than 3:29.20 in a WC or OG 1500m outdoors? Seems he was a tad slower in his 2nd place finishes in 2022 and 2023. Without pacers

Not a teenager anymore and not a wannabe either. The only thing you got right is that Jakob must be in a park somewhere, because he has not been seen in a stadium for months.

With pacers, he clears this time easily, just like Laros did today, with pacers.
Reynold, though, always seems to have too much work to do but good close again and first sub 3:30 for him
12.7 to run 3:29.9 for Reynold with some extra distance too is his best showing yet though. It feels unlikely he could win given his always-poor positioning, but a medal seems possible for the first time IMO.
Laros just one-upped anything we saw at USA Champs. I think only he and Hocker can run 12.5 off a 3:29 type pace with Koech banged-up and untested at that pace, and no signs that Kerr/Jakob/Koech can do it.
With Jakob not at 100% and Yared out, Kerr is now the strength runner of the field. Depending on how slow the race is he needs a long push from 800-600m out
That 1500 was great news for Hiltz. Might the silver be on the table?
Chebet, Hassan, hunter bell aren't running and Chepchirchi seems like a 3:55 woman at best and Hull just did that.
As long as Nikki decides they/them need a conveniently timed gender-affirming testosterone boost right before worlds the silver is they/theirs for the taking

Agreed, Koech has been easily outkicked TWICE by Laros now and Koech was able to beat Kerr in a kick in London. It remains to be seen how sharp Hocker is gonna be but you can't count me out either and he always seems to peak at the right time (same as Kerr though).
You also can not count out Jakob.. ever... he is the biggest unknown now going to Worlds, however, when he races he always shows up in shape. The 1500m at Worlds this year is going to be epic!
Sorry but Jakob ain’t closing in 12.5 in a 3:29 race.
Yeah he is, he is the fastest guy by far, I'm confident he's got the wheelz in him!
He is a 3k/5k guy, he has to run 55's to be able to win against these 800 type guys. Look at his global medals: 1 Gold 2 Silvers 1500, 3 Golds 5000m. He is still good at the 1500 but it is hard to win the global championship as an overdistance type rather than an underdistance guy.

Also to add, the Cheruiyots looked solid and closed very well. If they are peaking at the right time still a big factor.

Those races were over 2 years ago brother, Jakob has the speed and strength now
Yared is so positive and easy to root for. I’m happy that he went for it even if it didn’t work out in the end. What do y’all think was different for him this year vs. last year? Was it that he focused on the 800 (for Grand Slam) over 3k/5k strength stuff, normal post-Olympic slump, or something else?
