The origin of the UK's collapse is David Cameron's austerity cuts after the 2008 crash and then Brexit. The UK basically never recovered from 2008 and it's only now that people are actually talking about that.

Qatar can be oppressively hot at times, and in many other ways is made just for Qataris. Most people only go there for work or a visit; I can't imagine moving my family there if I have options on where to live. There are a lot of quirks the Farah family will have to adjust, and did I say it is hot.

Tony Benn was a socialist Eurosceptic, along with Jeremy Corbyn. But anyway, there's nothing socialist about complaining that people in social housing are doing well. I'm glad they're doing very nicely! If only there was more of it available!
Qatar is hot to the point of being virtually unlivable, near 50C as daily highs and the overnight lows are high too. Doha track usage stats on Google show many people using it midnight to 3am (!). People have to hide indoors in the air conditioning and very difficult to live an outdoor lifestyle there because the weather is so oppressive.

The fascinating thing about Brexit is how little impact it has had economically. Certainly relative to the amount of discussion there is over it.
Covid and the Ukraine energy price hikes (combined with Net Zero madness) has been huge and the UK is projected to overtake Germany in per capita GDP around the 2030s. You can argue Brexit is sub-optimal but that's a different issue.
