Only 2 laps in, already a lead group of Cranny/Kelati/Kosgei have a 2-sec lead on the field. Out in 72s = 30-flat/10,000.
Shelbo doing a great job. she should just hang on and run entire race

Where is Parker Valby? She was entered in the Tokyo Women’s 10,000m race
Stress fractures.

I believe there was a thread about her withdrawing.

One of original entrants from 5-6 weeks ago . . . but per several sources, apparently never was serious about this race.
Somewhat surprised to see Lauren Ryan/Australia/30:35pr in the chase pack. Thought she might try for a sub-30 tonight along with Cranny/Kelati/Kosgei.
Speaking of Valby, if Kosgei continues to hang -- now through 3600 meters --- Valby's 30:50-point CR is going down, hard.
we'll see very soon if Kosgei pays for going out that fast.

Seems like madness for Kosgei to go out this hot.

Well, that's certainly in the cards. Hope Elise/Weini/Pamela are all aware they may be three of a quartet at the end.
Please post it if anyone has a live lap by lap stream to view.
Kosgei just blew up and Houlihan just stopped pacing - Cranny will have to do the whole thing alone.
Why did Shelby slow down by 1.5 seconds that lap? Is there an issue with the pace lights?
On pace for 30:08 through 6K
15-flat @ 5000 split.
Shelby still rabbiting.
Good to see Kelati helping out
Damn was hoping Shelby would just finish it

You think most pro runners aren't THRILLED to pose for photos with HSers? Are you crazy?
I'm not sure what you're talking about. I go to a lot of pro meets in California and most pro runners do NOT pose with high school kids. And if they do it's one or two quick photos and then they leave. Quigley spent 15 minutes signing autographs and posing for photos.
Because most HSers don't know who the 3rd placer in the 4th heat of the 1500 is.
It's a demand (for selfie) not supply problem.
Cranny fading a ton. No sub 30
Looks like the American record is gone. Hopefully they can stay ahead of the world standard.
Kosgei on 30:43 pace
