Sahlman left that way toooo late (likely super quick last 100m), can't tell who's protesting but I didn't see anything egregious. 1:52 last 800 for most, second heat was a tactical race but looked much faster than the times said.
Sahlman worked hard for fourth, Teffra looks very strong. If prelims are any indicator - Teffra, Green, even Jackson looks strong.
caught at the end of a tactical race, didn't have the speed to get past the pack. Should've been near front, but looks like he just died out on the last lap. If he's running later, might've just realized it was too much effort for no reward.
If not - still a brutal last half mile. Not surprised people got gapped after 29-27-27-28
Meet coverage, as usual, is 💩. Missed the best and deepest NCAA Men’s Weight throw comp in history, which also included NCAA Meet Record, just to watch the 1st heat of the Mile. WTF?! Figured I’d at least see if there was some coverage of other events, but that wasn’t the case. Hopefully someone live streams the other events, I’m done watching it on the ESPN app

Yeah I don't understand this either, they had dual screen streams (with no commentary) before the start of the women's track events earlier, why they wouldn't leave the cameras up between the end of the women's track events and beginning the men's track events is beyond me.
They had a separate stream for the women's, not sure why they don't for men's. Maybe I'm just missing it, but they're definitely going to show a replay.
The way weight throw works, coverage can be a lot for a little action. At least mile heats are majority action. But pole vault and weight throw are both super strong this year, so they should have something similar to the women.

Should. But if we were going to miss anything...
Yeah I agree with the last point, but they couldn't just leave two cameras running pointed at two relatively static events?
To the majority of people who aren’t distance runners, coverage of an entire distance race is boring, except Steeple and XC, which are both pretty exciting. It’s like NASCAR, but less wrecks and rednecks (in most cases). Show me the first lap, cut to another event, and show the end of the race. If there’s any “drama” on any of the laps, highlight that after the race is over.

Agreed with the sentiment that track and field is largely stratified into event groups, I like it all, your solution is just strictly worse for everyone though. Would rather dedicated field event streams.

Idk, I think that seeing anybody run their ass off and hearing someone talk about it passionately grabs the attention. If it was dead silent, I'd agree. But it's definitely more entertaining then watching a fraction of the action, seeing someone throw random things, and then waiting for someone to walk up.
Field is a worthy part of the sport, but track is where the money's made. With the increased attention these days on distance running, crazy world-beating times in the NCAA - it'd be weird not to focus on every part. But I respect field, it's underappreciated. Just maybe not more exciting than distance ;)
