People keep using the words "guilty" and "convicted"... no crime was committed. She failed a drug test. All the drug test tells you is that a banned substance was found in her system, it has no implication of how it got there or a persons intent.
Her ban is the standard penalty for a failed test, not for her actions that resulted in the failed test. The assumption most haters make is that she knowingly doped. But the report released makes no judgement other than they didn't find her Burrito explanation plausible enough to favor an exception.
I think this is the crux of all the Shelby conversations... it doesn't matter if it was an accident or it was intentional, she pays the price for what's in her body. The price has been paid.
Personally, I do not think she knowingly cheated. I think it's a bummer she had to take a four year ban, but the rules were followed accordingly. I hope she dominates. She could have easily taken the Regina Jacobs route and didn't. The fan base should welcome her back... they don't have to do it lovingly, but all the hate doesn't do a thing.
Jonathan Gault has written an in-depth feature on what Shelby Houlihan's prospects are moving forward. He quotes 3 shoe execs as to whether there is a market for her, has quotes from her new agent Paul Doyle and also a quote from Jerry Schumacher as to whether or not he'd want to coach her.

You are wrong. A failed (first) test can result in anything between 0 and 4 years (American examples are Wilson, Lawson, Roberts, Mead, ... ). Hers was 4 years, because she was banned for intentional doping.

Not really. She would have gotten 3 years if it was intentional. They gave her an extra year because it was unintentional.

Thread is off the rails and her PR machine is in full spin, so there are some aspects of the case that are worth remembering:
She had two positive tests (A and B sample)
Nandrolone is a commonly used steroid in distance runners
Her amounts aligned almost perfectly with ingesting 19-NOR-DHEA as evidenced by the report and by Ross Tucker.
Her amounts were far higher than those who got off using a meat excuse IE Jarrion Lawson, Ajee Wilson. The Lawson case is thrown around a lot here but it does NOT actually apply.
Her progression was always strange. She had huge jumps in the 5K and 1500, and it wasn't just one year, it was huge jumps each year starting in 2018.
And finally
We don't do this with other drug cheats. Drug cheats don't get documentaries as they come off a ban. They don't get people saying things like "we may never know what happened!" We don't have people rooting for their return. Please realize how much of this is centered in bias. Shelby is white. Shelby is a midwestern kid. We wanted so badly for her to be what she seemed. Let's not get lost in that.

Now, she'll be under the close eye of fans and regulators alike.
She doesn't do well - many will think it's because she's not on the sauce.
She does well - she's either innocent and super talented OR found a new way to hide the substances.
She gets caught again with PEDs - no one will be able to believe that she was innocent the first time and realize she's a sociopath liar like Lance.
Stakes are super high - Now if she gets caught for banned substances again, all of the successful parts of her professional career are undeniably a lie. Full legacy destroyed.
If she quits or doesn't find success, most will remember her as the person who cheated with the burrito, even if she was actually innocent.

Yes, 9x the amount from Lawson, 10x the amount it could have been from the stomach burrito (IF it would have been uncastrated boar...).
And it was synthetic nandrolone (see CIR), which couldn't have come from the farm-fed pigs in any case.
That's why Team Shelburrito now switched to the sabotage/deep state theory, except for the rekbot of course.
