How many sprinters, hurdlers, jumpers, and alternates would need to be injured before Bryce Hopell, US 800m record holder and only ever US 1:41 runner, got a call to run a leg on the US 4x 400m team at a global championship?
20 plus probably
Bryce doesn't impress me at either the 400 or 1500, but funnily enough, he's probably more likely to sneak on to like, an indoor worlds 4x400 (because he'd already be going to worlds for the 800) than he ever would any USA 1500 team. He didn't break 4 at 5th Ave Mile this year and I'm fairly sure he hasn't ever.
Isaiah Harris definitely ran on a USA 4x400, I think Brazier has been listed as an option but I don't believe he ever actually ran one.
