Why does God not answer 100% of prayers?

Find some verses in the bible, personalize them, and pray those over yourself and your prayers will be answered. James 4:3 says, "You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures." For example, if you pray and ask for something selfish like winning the lottery, God is not going to answer that. The Bible is His word and full of promises for you and if you pray His word, He will answer your prayers. John 15:7 says, "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you[b] will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you." God loves you!

One unconventional belief I have about prayer and spirituality, is that I think we need to spend as much time in Spirit (or in a prayer practice), as we would need to spend to get results in running.

I don’t think it gets us very far, to think that a minute or two here or there, can drive real, palpable shifts in your life.

You can’t run for ten minutes once a day, and become the runner you want to be, so why would you think you can heal an area of your life by taking a minute out of your day to ask the gumball machine in the sky to give you a certain gumball?

I’m positive what I’m saying sounds nutty to some, but if I believe that spending time letting the energy of SourceCreatorGod flow into me and through me, is my chosen method of healing and thriving, then why not spend meaningful chunks of time, over the course of days and weeks?

I would add the gumball-machine-in-the-sky model doesn’t seem like quite the right approach.

Personally, I spend time in the energy of the All-That-Is, mostly with only an intention of healing or thriving. I also spend time flowing the energy of (call it what you want) to others, with only an intention of their healing or thriving.

I’ve got nothing against letting the energy to flow through you to a more specific intention, and occasionally I ask for something quite concrete (best possible outcome for employment, when that is in flux) but I shrink away from the Santa Claus model of always asking for specifics.

I think people might still believe in a "God" no matter what happens in life or in our planet's future. What I am curious about are those Muslims, Orthodox Jews, and Evangelicals who are very literal with their understanding of God and as such, would not be able to rectify their beliefs with the arrival of an alien species similar to humans.

Honestly, does the Westboro Baptist Church, for example, really think the word of Jesus applies to the aliens as well? What if the aliens are better, smarter, kinder, more tolerant, and live much longer lives than we do? What if the aliens only have one gender/sex and as such are confused about why so much of our salvation is tied to our sexual preferences?

Would we really try to convince them that our way of living was "right" and that they can only find "salvation" by following the ancient Jewish texts?

Wouldn't the aliens just laugh at that? Why didn't the Bible include any proviso for that situation?

Faith is an infused gift available to all, not arrived at purely by reason. But it does not contradict reason. Having supernatural Faith is more like something you know, rather than something you figured out as probable.

Like the above posters say, faith is not attained by logical reasoning and deduction, so it's pretty difficult to erode faith by logic alone.

I was raised to be very religious, always had logical doubts, but set those aside because what else can you do when everyone you trust and respect believes this stuff and tells you it's fundamental to being a good person? It wasn't until I underwent some personally stressful situations that the emotional connection was weak enough for logic to penetrate. It's not enough to know that other people are out there suffering immensely, you have to see it or come to know it yourself. It helped that I finally had people around me who weren't religious, as proof that morality extends beyond the beliefs of iron age sheep herders.

People vary in how "logical" they are (both in the powers of their logical reasoning, and their tendency to actually use it), but all of us are emotional creatures first and foremost. When confronted with new information, even the most logical among us don't analyze it abstractly - we do a "compatibility check" to see if the information aligns with our emotional construction of sense of self, and then create logical justifications to support that emotional decision.

I’m not going to give a lecture- it would be too long to explain- but basically in the topology of your beliefs and logic- if you could see it- there are a few axioms/relations etc and assumptions that can be “reorganized” that allow one to rebuild language with all the same concepts- if you are genius and do it properly - you will realize God exists because you can’t find it.

the eye can’t see itself. If you see God it’s not God you see. God is hidden which is why it’s genius- you see it by excluding it everywhere but realizing it keeps going.

Here is a riddle about gaze- if you can answer it maybe then I can explain God to you. The problem is God is connected to “you” so I can’t explain it if you are in a certain state- as it’s part you you see.

1- if someone is looking at you and your eyes meet.

2- if you NEVER meet their eyes. If I ignore someone in a room and never let them lock eyes with me, it means I am looking at them (gaze)

Gaze is the “look” without looking. It’s in time.

If I go to a Party and want the hottest girl to see me- I ignore her. That way she knows I’m looking. Same with men, if you ignore them they notice and then will try to talk to you haha because inverse gaze is fighting to men.

you see God- because it’s like if you go to a party and there’s a dude you see, but somehow they never talk to you, they ignore you, don’t even look at you- like you a ghost. That’s God. You see. God is nowhere, you can use physics to see it, prove it etc, but if you are smart and understand logic and topology- you will see logically - it’s impossible God doesn’t exist. It exists because you never find it. It’s beautiful really. God allows you to create new things, party, feel pain, suffer, and it never shows. Unless you truly need to see it (drugs allow you to lower gaze) when you do schrooms and you “see God” it’s because it changes your gaze and then the dude at the party who has been ignoring you, walks over like Gatsby and says “hey how are you?”
