Cheptegei is not the comp to me as he was coming off chasing records and just has converted notably badly upwards. We’ve seen the following trio run sub-58 soon after their track season: Barega, Kejelcha, Gebrhiwet. Yes, these guys have immense strength and 10k experience, but all of them have shown some vulnerabilities as they move up unlike Kiplimo. Barega struggles in XC and gets dropped in the super-fast Ethiopian Trial 10Ks. Ditto Gebrhiwet. Kejelcha has been able to keep up a little better as he goes up but I still think 5,000 is the best distance for him. Not too far off Jakobs sweet spot which is likely 3000 at this point.
