yes the fear-mongering media put the gun in his hand
He was a registered republican, a Trump supporter and fan of a far-right youtube channel. What could have happened in the days/weeks leading up to the rally that might have caused him to turn on Dear Leader?
Neighbors of would-be assassin Thomas Crooks say the family never displayed political signs in their yard as details emerge of the shooter's mother and father's political affiliations.
I have no idea whether they ever had a Trump yard sign. Neither do you.
I expect that you critically think well enough to understand that one person, or a few, saying they didn't see something does not mean that it did not happen. When others say it did happen, they could be correct, or mistaken.
An American flag flew upside down at the Alito home. If one neighbor says, "That never happened. I never saw that," does it mean that it did not happen, when others say that it certainly did?
I didn't "fail" to do anything, I highlighted what I felt addressed what I had already written.
We know from other reporting that they owned a slew of guns, including an AR-15-style rifle. But it certainly could be true, although less likely, that someone with such a wealth of guns could vote blue.
And again, importantly, the politics of parents (or the likely politics) do not always extend to their child.
Our best evidence in that regard is that he was a registered Republican that his classmates said would argue conservative positions.
You failed to link the BBC article you mentioned to begin with.
Considering your "best evidence" is that he was a registered Republican and argued conservative positions, I'd have to say that donating actual money to a Democrat cause and trying to put a bullet in Trump's head outweighs your best evidence. You're welcome to your opinion though.
Have you considered that trying to tie this young man, who likely was mentally ill, to one "team" or the other is a fool's errand?
Perhaps it is best to wait for more information, or to settle on the reality that we might never know. It is possible that he couldn't articulate a political philosophy, or he had one that was convoluted. He might have supported Democrats, or he might have made a donation to impress a girl he had a crush on. We literally don't have a clue.
I'm not over here saying, "Ha ha, a Republican tried to kill Trump!"
I'm saying that it is hard to say that "a Dem tried to kill Trump." The evidence for that is woefully lacking.
I am sure that saying, "He's on your team. This is on you guys," doesn't wear well on anyone.

You started trying to tie him to one team, but I can appreciate your new outlook.
Not the 24/7 fear mongering the media has done over Trump?
Perhaps, but I think it was something more with this kid. I think it was personal.
Might want to investigate his connection to Blackrock, they had their paws on him at a young age, so start there.
TDS folks love to blabber about their hate for Trump and this kid not a word. plus, he’s much too young to be caught up in politics to the level required to assassinate Trump.

I believe what I was doing, as it was clear that the right was trying to tie him to the Democrats ("HE MADE A DONATION!!! AAAAHHHH!!!!") was to say that there is evidence he is a Republican (because he actually WAS), so the Democrats definitely don't "own" this one (based on what we know).
But I think, and always have, that mental illness was probably the driver of this horrible action, not politics.
That's also why I wrote that I bet he would have taken a shot at Biden too, given the chance.

I just can’t see a Republican hating Trump, let alone so much he tries to assassinate him

Giving money to a Democrat cause outweighs spending 2 minutes registering as a Republican because Democrats actually benefitted while Republicans didn't.

Invalid argument. many TDS voters registered GOP to cast votes for Haley. GOP is not M@GA. Many carry the same disease as Dems. This kid had no known hatred for Trump. But no doubt he knew people who did
When did he register as a Republican? Surely he registered as a Republican so as to not to trigger any red flags when he attended the convention? Having said that, he could have posted on Twitter his intention to kill Trump and Special Services would probably have ignored it.
Something interesting about working for the CIA, is that you cannot talk about it or admit it, ever, under any circumstances Operatives, they call them assets, are killed when they are compromised.

It was $15. You have no idea why he even did it. It could have been to impress some girl. How hard do you ponder every $15 you spend? How long does it take for you to spend $15? I'm guessing a lot less than 2 minutes.
Why does what this kid may have done 17 have more significance than what he did after? He registered republican at 18. As your clan always brags many people have been "red pilled" seems like he switched in 2021. Those are the facts. Your need to deny that he was a registered republican is strange. Maybe you need him to be lefty to square some strange belief you have. But, the facts say he isn't.
He shot Trump because he had mental issues, not because of some political leaning. Sorry, you can't rage against the libs for his actions.

$15 back in 2021 is like $40 now with Bidenflation.
Here's an interesting new video with a guy that new Thomas Crooks really well.

He registered in 2021, do divert attention then he waited 3 years? Okay champ.
So this kid has been described by his peers as having been the target of some pretty severe bullying throughout his childhood. I'm sure he also saw how the former, and likely future President relentlessly directed similar behavior towards many people. Not only that, but he surely witnessed many people both on social media and in his daily life joining in on this behavior, and celebrating it. It's really not too hard to see how a person like Crooks could have been motivated to do what he did.
This is likely right.
At 17, Cooks gave $15 to some charity with ties to democrats, but at age 18 he registered REPUBLICAN. He always took the conservative side in school debates. He had a trump flag at his house before, and the few friends he had were Trumpers.
There were reasons other than politics for the attempt.

Are you crying about money? If you're worried about spending based on the occupant of the White House, you need to get a better job.
This economy is fvcking great for people with marketable skills and decent incomes.
Your crying is falling on deaf ears. So sick of poor white trash complaining about money. You should have worked harder and planned better instead of crying for daddy Trump to save you, fvcking loser.

Actually, I'm rich, but you were trying to make light of the $15 he donated. How much did he contribute to Republicans?
