Let's makesomething clear. There's no shawdowy all powerful conspiracy in control. If you think any aspect of the political establishment has a real tangible long term plan you're a fool.

And I emphasize that becuase the lack of any vision for the future is becoming glaringly apparent in how the country is being managed right now and that is not set to change regardless of the victor of this years festivities.

In 2020 it was apparent that Biden's advanced age was a problem. Despite that all assurances were given that there was no question that he would run again for another term, right up until 5 months out from the election possibly!?

If this truly happens that's an alltime strategic blunder with the only saving grace being the ridicolous unpopularity of the other canidate for the democratic party (also there's millions of people in the country who could tear Trump a new one in a debate so the fact they've consecutive managed to find two idiots who can't is actually astounding).

Again, I emphasize because on pratically all fronts there clearly crises looming and everyone should have zero expectation our political leadership won't completely **** the bed when facing those forseeable problems in the near future.

Some domestic Russian media calls Trump "America's Gorbachev". What is apt about that is the anaology of contemporary American politics to the USSRs era of stagnation and deep corruption in it's late years. The USSR seemed like an everpresent monolith right up until the spectacular mismanagement of the state could no longer hide and it all came crashing down rapidly. Without drastic course correction I very much fear that may, and if you're an idiot maggot I remind you that displays like 1/6 are exactly the kind of things that destablize countries and brings chaos, God help you if you lived through 2020 and seriously can't see that putting that man back in power will have any outcome that isn't catastrophic.

Biden is not dropping out, so long as he is alive by election day. He is the nominee. The time to unseat him was last year. The media knew of his condition but by and large (and there were exceptions) hid his condition. Read Bari Weiss' piece on "They Knew" on Free Press.

He is the singularpy most loathed and hated man in Amaeica right now and a piece of a lettuce could challenge him in an election. Trump is a whopping 3 years younger than Biden, and has given brilliant proofs of his mental capacity by literally flipping a graph upsidedown to dispute his poor management of the pandemic, suggesting we should nuke hurricanes, etc...

No. I said he 'won', meaning he won via the rules we elect presidents by. He did not have more total votes than the opposition. That's just how the game is played.

My post was in response to someone rambling on about '51%' and I pointed out very few modern presidents have reached 51%.

The margins are narrow because most people are 'home team' voters. They will always vote for their party.

Let's say that Biden steps aside and calls off his campaign, all of the news focus is going to be on the Democrats. Who's running? Who's ahead? Yadda...yadda... It will take up all of the oxygen in the room. Trump won't like being ignored and he can't really land any attacks because he doesn't know who his opponent is. He'll pick a dull lapdog for VP and that will get him some headlines. The GOP Convention will be a dull news event because they have no enemy to attack other than Biden (not running) and Dems in general. Knowing Trump, he'll start spouting more outlandish stuff to get attention which gives Dems loads of attack ad content when they settle on a candidate.

The Dems will keep the suspense high until right before their convention and that will be a huge coming out party for their ticket. I'm going to guess that they go young and smart: Whitmer/Newsome 2024.

With a woman at the top of the ticket, they will go hard on reproductive rights and Mom issues. They will attack SCOTUS. They will constantly bring up Trump's very checkered past with women plus his attitudes and behavior. They will bait Trump into saying really offensive things about Whitmer and women. The cherry on top? Taylor Swift comes out strong for the ticket encouraging her fans to save democracy, save reproductive rights, and to exercise their strength by electing the first woman POTUS.

Whoever the Democrats nominate, they will get my vote. I would vote for SATAN before tRump.

For better or worse, Biden will be the (D) candidate for POTUS in November. It’s just not logistically or legally possible to replace him on all state ballots at this point. The major party conventions are no longer truly nominating conventions any longer. Because we have a hodgepodge system of state election laws, Biden wouldn’t be allowed on some state ballots if he were replaced now or at the convention. Plus the GOP would almost certainly try and complicate things by legally challenging anyone the Dems put up to replace Biden—and given the way courts work (slowly) in the US this would doom any replacement for Biden. So, Biden will be the candidate unless he dies before November.

I do think Trump is likely to win in this rematch scenario but that isn’t a sure thing despite what Trumpers on this site say. Biden could still win, there is a lot of time between now and November and a lot can still happen.
