Do you actually not know who his coach is? Regular poster on here sitting up on his high horse claiming to be the worlds premier 800m coach! Deng quit the group. Bol guilty AF. Sumner disappeared without trace. Mathas and Learmonth bang average 1.46 guys, probably 1.48 unaided
Deng left for doper Sepeng, so I don't think he was trying to wash himself here.
Just catching up here after the screenshot got brought up again just before his run at the Paris Olympics like it was new news. His other training partner back then was Bendere Oboya. Her original coach as a 16 or so year old was caught up in a doping scandal after an ASADA raid on his home, his ban eventually overturned. She joined another squad sill doing 400, including at Tokyo Olympics. Joined JR's group with Bol and Deng in Melbourne and moved up to 800. A very driven and ambitious athlete. After Bol's positive test broke on 20 January 2023, she was next scheduled to run in a Australian domestic meet the Adelaide Invitational on 11 February 2023 but pulled out beforehand and announced her retirement the day of the event. Aged 22. Signed the paperwork. (No tests if officially retired?) She said at the time she didn't want to run anymore because of what happened to Bol, wasn't fair, made her sad, later said she just wanted to step away and be a normal 22 year old. Athletics Australia usually reports news like that and pays tribute to retiring athletes but not a peep. Returned a few months later, now with the On Australia squad in Melbourne. Missed out on Paris despite running a qualifier, three others with qualifiers picked instead.

I do not get when an athlete wants to quit if they r clean. Long time ago, a very good aussie sprinter retired after 1988 because he feared everyone else was cheating after Ben Johnson got caught. Funny stuff.
Bendere was young, good mates with Pete, I don't think there were any other girls in that group? Her family lives interstate. Not crazy to think she just didn't want to do it anymore with all that going on.
Also not crazy to get an offer with a great team and want to give it another go. She's running really well now, better than when she was with JR.

Hope she does well, although i was a bit non-plussed why she left the 400m. Yes, it is hard to improve, but it can be done rather than move up to a distance where her existing speed seems more appropriate.

Who coaches him? Who is in his group, if they aren't leaving or calling him out you can assume they have the same moral standards. Isn't he part of a specific '800m training group's.
