After watching Tyler Edwards and Reece McKee destroy the Oles yesterday, it leaves me wondering: are Edward’s and McKee a: enemies b: lovers or c: just friends?

Destroyed guys who tempoed 3K? Mac is clearly better than the past, but Oles sitting four of their top guys and the rest tempoing isn't cause for any sort of celebration yet.
In the same way, you can't count out Carleton after one race. A Dave Ricks squad is always ready in November.
Strava posts indicate the Oles worked out after the race. If so, did they violate NCAA rules? Saw this on another thread and it made me wonder if Power was breaking the rules and what sort of sanction he should receive.

NCAA Bylaw 17.1.5.3.6 says: Practice may not be conducted at any time (including vacation periods) following competition, except between contest rounds or events during multiday or multievent competition (e.g., double-headers in softball or baseball, rounds of golf in a multiday tournament).
Imagine replying to my post, but not answering my multiple choice question. Couldn’t be me, that’s all I’m saying
By this logic cooling down after a race or shaking out mid drive is also an ncaa violation.
Lovers fasho!!!
those Mac guys know what’s up
Heard a rumor about a Northfield plague. Allegedly the carls brought it back to town from Will Kelly in their race in Bozeman. Now with the Oles infected too how will this shape the races to come?
Count me on team no cooldown! But for real, Power was in the finish corral Friday loudly telling his athletes to go finish their workout. seems like a clear violation to me. I just thought it was more of his typical boorish behavior and an attempt to demean the Macalester performances. Didn't realize it’s against the rules.
Report it to the MIAC if you care. You can find the commissioner’s email on the website.
The Oles will attempt to beat their alumni this weekend. Wonder if any will be responsible enough to call him out for this or his recruiting failures.
Page 9 and nobody's mentioned the women's race yet? Fine I'll start.
On the team side, Carleton looks like the obvious favorite. Even after graduating a few of their top runners, the defending national champions bring back 4 of the top 5 returners from last year's meet. I don't see anyone beating them if they're at full strength, although the Oles are also ranked in the top 15 nationally. If they bring in a strong recruiting class they'll have a chance to pull off the upset.
We should finally get a decent individual race now that Fiona Smith has finally realized she belongs in D1. Based on returners, it mostly looks like a Northfield dual meet though.

Yeah, that's why nobody mentioned it, because if it's a Northfield dual then nobody cares. Also, how many women have ever been on Letsrun.com? This is the reddit of men's running, not the other way around.
What are the odds Carleton perfect scores the women’s race?
A few more 5K efforts this weekend with a few teams heading to Waseca and the Johnnie/Ole alumni matchups
there’s no way carleton can perfect score the women’s race. there’s enough individual talent from other miac schools to break through a carleton 1-5
The Oles have two track All-Americans on their women's squad, but it might be a reach to see a non-Northfield woman in the top 10. Maybe a Bethel woman or a random freshman. The Scholastica women splitting up the Ole pack at their opener is misleading as the Oles tempoed and also had several athletes sitting out for unknown reasons.
It seems both Ole coaches like to play game and don't treat races as races.
Bennies/Johnnies hosting the Auggies, Royals for MIAC opponents, Stout will bring the heat from future North Region competition, otherwise Bemidji State and Cloud, along with some UMAC folks. Should be an easy pickup for both home teams, but does Mo Bati spoil the fun? Course record should go down like a breeze, currently held by none other than Nick St. Peter at a sluggish 16:13 for such a flat course.

Gusties tempo with Smith taking the win. If he has figured out cross country, the rest of the MIAC should be on notice. No Bati and some fast times from the Johnnies. Stout definitely brought the heat. Not sure a MIAC team can beat them.
The Oles alumni have really fallen of a cliff. Olaf should have just done a workout.
Macalester's times from their first meet don't look as splashy. As a previous poster said, the course is clearly shorter than it used to be

Lol

As shoes get hung and Hamms are opened, what have we learned from week 2 of MIAC cross
Bati is in peak Bati form
Johnies are a step above Mac despite to the pre season hype?
Oles pack run while Roy goes full hero mode
Confrence will be a dual Northfield Dual unless someone else can get it together
1. Olaf - Won their alumni meet handily. Their five scorers would have been ahead of Tyler Edwards on the same course last week. Kevin Turlington appears to have returned to form. Parker Max runs a surprising No. 2 for them while Skemp and Manzur Strandlund appeared to have off days. Freshman Jackson Bullock could be one to watch, running 16:09. While the course is rumored to be short, the Ole pack had eight runners under 16:00 compared to four last year.
2. Carleton - idle. As noted, last week they competed at the MSU meet. As a previous poster noted, Roy had a strong meet but several others struggled with the altitude. Roy finished roughly 20 seconds back of former Ole great Will Kelly. Lyness and Hanley didn't compete and Nichols faded after running with Roy early. Freshman Travis Brown looks to be the No. 4 they have been seeking. If Meier or another of their vaunted freshmen progress we can expect to see Hawaiian shirts in Terre Haute.
3. Macalester idle - Will race at the All-American meet at Luther next weekend. Will be interesting to see how star freshman John Ihrke adjusts to the four mile distance in Decorah.
4. St. John's - The Johnnies turned in some fast times in their home meet. North Region up and comer Stout looked the real deal and is a team the MIAC squads will be watching. Cavanaugh and Kaluza look strong, running 15:34/15:36. A healthy Dylan Bartness emerging as a fifth man with a nice PR was a highlight for the Johnnies. McCoy didn't race.
5. Gustavus - Where is this course? The Gusties appeared to change their traditional full race tempo to a descending tempo racing at a Luther meet that was closer to Northfield than Decorah. As previously noted, Tyler Smith easily won the meet. Tempoing 16:13 on a rough course for a PR will turn some heads. Brauer didn't race, but a pack of Gusties all finished within a few second of each other to round out scoring.
6. Bethel - Grant Graber starting the year with a PR on the grass is sure to make the Bethel faithful smile. Having a stellar training partner in Hootie Hage is sure to help. Hage was the top freshman in the field. Lelinga ran a PR, but the 27 second gap from 2-3 needs to tighten over the 8K distance. The good news is four teammates finishing with five seconds of each other to compete for the scoring spots. Senior Gabe Kuecker running a casual 1:13 PR to start the year must be noted. St. George and Kalsnes didn't compete, which will certainly provide more depth later in the season.
7. St. Scholastica - idle. Strava tells us that Calvin is back to running, so we'll expect him fully in contention to compete for second with the Northfield athletes. It appears they tempoed into more of a race pace, so it is possible the squad is much better than this, but questions remain about the 4-5 scorers.
8. Concordia - idle. Will open this weekend. This squad will go exactly as far as the Future and twin of the Future can take them. A small recruiting class means some veterans will need to step up. Having Munir as a training partner will surely push the twins to a high level.
9. Saint Mary's - Despite a low team place and missing Schneider, the Cardinals have to feel pretty optimistic after this race. Fitzgerald and Smyth ran over 90 seconds faster than last year.
10. Hamline - Hamline also journeyed to the Luther meet in Central Minnesota. LiaBratten and his hockey hair popped into the top ten. The grad school transfer Nostrala appears to be sorting out shorter races after Spring marathon training. The Hammdawgs have a large gap to the next few scorers.
11. Augsburg - Bati didn't race at the Toni St. Pierre Invitational, but was healthy enough to run an absurd 42 miles in 24 hours. Posting a team average of 17:51 on a quick course indicates the squad still has some work to do to challenge Hamline and Saint Mary's.
