Biden claims that violent crime has fallen to lowest levels in ‘more than 50 years’

Biden claimed during his State of the Union address Thursday night that violent crime has fallen to one of its lowest levels in “more than 50 years.”

Facts First: This is true, at least based on preliminary 2023 data that should be treated with caution. The preliminary 2023 data published by the FBI, running through the third quarter of the year, showed that violent crime was down 8.2% compared to the same period in 2022 – a decline that would be “historically large” for a year, crime data expert Jeff Asher wrote in a December article. Asher wrote: “The quarterly data shows violent crime down in big cities, small cities, suburban counties, and rural counties, pretty much across the board.”

Anybody who says the Sandy Hook and Parkland shootings were staged should be punched in the face, at a minimum.

I just finished watching Katie Britt's rebuttal (didn't stay awake for it last night).

What a weird disaster that was. A breathy, dystopian version of America presented from a high-end kitchen by a sorority girl who has kids named Ridgeway and Wesley.

I don't know how anyone could have watched that and come away not knowing that Biden is 100% capable of doing that job.

But still, there are so many ignorant fools out there that the speech last night just may well have been the last State of the Union address as a Democracy.

That is the risk. This election is the most crucial in American history since the election of Lincoln. It will decide whether the country remains a democracy - a struggling fractious democracy - or becomes a fascist regime led by an egoistic uncontrollable and unhinged petty dictator.

The problem I saw with Britt was her pretending she had fallen on hard times while she's clearly wealthy and not at all inconvenienced by the post-Covid inflation. How much shopping cart pushing is Katie Britt really doing? Hell, Joe was at Costco picking up a few items not long ago.

There aren’t any more normies in the Republican Party. And there aren’t any conservatives either. It is a Trump dictated party of subservience to whatever Trump needs from them to get elected and stay out of jail.

The Republican Party isn't a democratic party any longer; it is a right wing cult coalescing around its vengeful conspiracy theories led by a paranoid and unhinged would-be dictator. It is more far right that any other right wing party in any democracy today.
