We've merged two Tokyo threads into 1 and remind you we'll be going live at 8 pm ET to break down World Indoors and catch the end of Tokyo:
OK at km 24.3 kipchoge is 56 seconds off the lead. He is done.
Timothy Kiplagat looks good, he used to train with Kelvin Kiptum
As an aside, 180's in major marathons shouldn't be a thing.
Did anyone notice Eliud almost come to a complete stop going around the bend at 23.95k.

A little naive to think an athlete who first became world champion in 2003 would still be winning major events 21 years later. Some of the field weren't even born then.
Still, when you see it live, it’s painful to watch as a fan.
Makes losing Kelvin Kiptum at this time sting even more
Pace 3 out, excellent work done by him
what shoes is Hassan running on?
But he's in 4th. If one guy has a problem, he can still be on the podium. Can't drop out until he gets passed, I think.
Pacers gone from lead group
The tracking app seems to have gone nuts. It shows Kipchoge leading at 25 K, but so far shows no one else at that point.
Everything about this TV coverage is better than US Marathons. Including the exact time and milage in the top right corner.
Why can't we have nice things?
Bethwel Kibet stopped still for like 5 seconds at drinks, never seen that before
And if you understand some Japanese, the commentary is really knowledgable and deep into the pack.
Is it just me or is Sifan Hasan grimacing?

Grimacing, yes. Well, she hasn’t stopped to stretch yet!
Japanese TV coverage of marathons has been excellent since the early 1980s.
About 40 men on 2:06 pace or faster through 25km
These splits are insane, it's gotta slow down at some point, right?

The leaders looked gassed. Like they may blow up.
These guys are not Kiptum
