Well it's a discussion forum, and we wanted to hypothesize results for next year even if there was a chance they wouldn't come true. If it wasn't for injuries, they probably would have made NXN based off their previous results. They definitely would have cruised to a D2 win at least if healthy.

They lost one of their top 5 runners, and FastHorse uncharacteristically faltered at State Finals after dominating his other races.

It's like people saying L&L were only top 20 runners for 2022 because they bombed at NXN. Any ranking would still have them top 10 or top 5 based off all their previous results and you wouldn't be ridiculed for predicting a year before that they would dominate the year just because they failed to perform at NXN.

Athletic.net has him listed as a senior, and it does have him running XC races for Davis as a 9th grader in 2020. So he won't be running XC for Davis in 2024, right?

Seems like all CA teams that have a shot at NXN will be underclassman-heavy, except for Great and maybe Buchanan who will have 3 seniors

The guy who won the 1600 (Reynolds) is a senior, so Jesuit will have two at State in the 1600. Abbott and Ogilvie didn't run well. The rest are all going as relay members.

They also have another incoming senior who’s been scoring on their varsity since freshman year (Cressman)

Mountain View is also getting a valuable transfer from what would’ve been St. Francis (MV)’s 2nd fastest returning XC runner.

Saw in the Utah transfer rule thread that San Clemente’s top returner (Harrington) is moving to Utah, going to American Fork.

Looks like San Clemente’s run is over at least for a while.

Next year they won’t make the state meet because of how competitive the D1 Southern section is.
