Idk, I'm not quite as cynical about sport wide doping as most here, but this is too much for me. At least Rhonex Kipruto's 26:24 was still within the realm of possibility (Cheptegei 12:35 track vs 12:50 road) but this time is like a man running 25:50s for a road 10k. Just ridiculous...
Don't forget that Kipruto is currently provisionally suspended for doping.
Never claimed otherwise, I was using him as a point to say that his performance was at least more believable at the time. Within the past year or so, I've been forced to re-evaluate my stance on doping. It seems probable now that practically all the very top athletes are on something, it's just a matter of how bad is it? (microdosing, grey area, TUE abuse, group funded vs full throttle, statewide corruption etc..?)
I still firmly believe it's possible to be national level without PEDs however.

That is an optimistic stance. There is no clear cut-off in doping between international and national level. We see that because there is doping at school and college levels and in masters sports.
The runner's up time is even more crazy. Emmaculate Anyango Acholi runs 28:57 despite having never broken 15 minutes in the 5k or 32 minutes in the 10k on the track.
She now will become one of the five favourites for the Olympic 10000 on the track after an outstanding few DL 5000's in the next 6 months and a great time in Hengelo
Diamond league 5000’s will be interesting leading into the Olympics, which are 100 days away
Well that was quick! Emmaculate already caught doping
The AIU has provisionally suspended Emmaculate Anyango Achol (Kenya) for the Presence/Use of a Prohibited Substance (Testosterone and EPO) Details here: https://t.co/Y8LF9j2o9fpic.twitter.com/bodHwRunZm
Probably one of the least shocking bans i've seen recently. I remember being absolutely bewildered how a woman could go from 31 minutes to 28 minutes in a little over a year.

No it wasn't. No WR is because of the many talented dopers and the powerful drugs.
Kipruto - as we now know - has been blood-doping sophistically for years and is now banned for a whopping six years and has basically lost all his achievements by DQs, including his World Record.

It must be taken as a given now that any top Kenyan will be doping. Actually, any Kenyan athlete.
You cannot ban Kenya outright if they are testing. But it is systematic. You cannot just say it is the individual atheltes who are cheating - is it systematic somewhere. Not like Russia state sponsored, but there is obviously a system, where drugs are readily available, and systems in place to avoid testing - at some level. Corruption I am sure.
It has to stop. Coaches banned. managers of more than one doped athlete banned. The incentives are completely misaligned.
Any manager who manages more than one doper gets banned like a doper would. See you later. THEN they are incentivised to ensure that their athletes are clean.

just posted almost the exact same sentiment on another thread. this is the way. the thing is, corruption in an economically poor country is rampant. that will be another challenge when the managers, agents, and coaches start opening their wallets.
Doping. Doping. Doping. If you are a women running near 28, you are doping to the gills.
If you are an adult native English speaker who doesn't know the difference between "woman" and "women", you are super dumb!
go easy. there are many of us here that are not native English speakers. isn't it the Americans still unable to define what a "woman" entails anyway? surely, a single letter isn't enough to get you tangled up?
Or maybe someone is just typing fast and is too lazy to edit. But deflect away.
Or, maybe you're just grumpy from something else in your life; and so you pick apart some random poster's wrong letter placement to make yourself feel better.
A stunning world record!! Like amusement parks as I get older, I cam barely keep up.
To the rest of the thread: Why do a large proportion of Let's Run posters follow track? They back as standard a drug testing system they don't believe in to the extent that no standout performances are legitimate or worthy of celebration; and, yet, here they are - lamenting and casting aspersions about a world class sport they clearly don't find palatable. Why not stay clear? Do they enjoy feeling victimised? Or is this a simple case of venomous cynicism routed in envy? If it's the envy, they'd probably like the writings of Melanie Klein. (I'm writing in the third person so I can pretend I'm not engaging with real people.)
Letsrun fanboys hate it when a woman makes them look slow.

The systems in place to avoid testing part….they are busting many athletes. It seems more it takes time to catch athletes who pop up like Achol.

I ran under 14 cleanly. If I'd be oozing EPO and testosterone out my pores, I'd probably have run in the 13:1x range.

Kenya as a nation is, like most African countries, about a couple steps above a lawless war zone. Law enforcement are at best useless and in many cases corrupt, some of them robbing vehicles at fake checkpoints, similar to the Federales in Mexico. There is minimal law and order in the country in general. The wealthy hire their own military-level security and live in barbed wired strongholds. Everyone else lives as low key and non-flashy a life as possible to not give anyone else a reason to come after them.
And basically, as long as you don't make the wrong people mad, you can get away with whatever you please. Of course they have no problem with doping and they do it as much as they can possibly get away with. They do make sure to keep their doping a secret from unknowing visiting Westerners who visit Iten and elsewhere.
