What do you want to see on LetsRun in 2024?!

That's actually refreshing to hear because I can get lost in the trees instead of looking at the forest. First thing I do everyday is start moderating so I get depressed about forums but your post and another email we got today were very supportive.

Of the three things: #2 I don't have a problem with. Some of the relationship threads/questions are some of the best on LetsRun.

Not sure why people are so obsessed. I just deleted the thread. They'll start another one.

He's a popular running YouTube. Allow us to have 1 thread to discuss him. Hell, make it registered posters only.

(and yeah, I get that the forum is a lot better than it used to be wrt that stuff. but it's still incredibly rare for a poster to mention that they're a woman, compared to all the posters who are openly men. I don't think that's because there's a dearth of female users, let alone female fans of the sport. I think it's because male users are real weird to and about women.)

Also, ads that don't take so much bandwidth that they crash my computer.

I agree--better to change nothing than to overcorrect the moderation.

I see many posts about moderation in this thread with diametrically opposed suggestions (too much moderation, too little moderation, etc.). This suggests that you've got it about right.

While I do not enjoy reading views that virulently oppose my own, I appreciate that letsrun is a place I can go to see how people outside my own bubble think.

Figure out a way to ban Armstronglives and any other name he posts under.

I understand this is a running-oriented site. I think the issue is you guys seem to be straddling a line between being a running site and a comprehensive track & field site. In your Diamond League and world championship coverage, you include sections on the field events in your previews and recaps (which I appreciate). This gives the impression that you're wanting to be a comprehensive track & field site.

I'm just asking you to pick a lane when it comes to being a running site or a comprehensive track & field site, and then stay in that lane. If you're going to have an article whose intention stated at the top is to "revisit the wacky and wonderful from 2023 in track & field" then actually do that. Don't just write about runners if you're trying to be a track & field site.

I enjoy the articles about throwing and other field events. Without coverage from letsrun, I would know nothing about them.

What's the harm in a sideline on field events? I respect that the AOY selection did not go the way you thought it should have, but is that really a reason to remove field event content from the website?

Thanks for the response, Wejo. I think #2 is the least controversial (and, personally, the least bothersome of the three points listed there). I do also want to express some appreciation for what y'all have accomplished.

Are you/the rest of the admin team at Letsrun thinking to publish like a list of outcomes that you are looking to achieve in 2024 anywhere (esp. if it's based on the feedback of the thread)? I'd be interested to see how to follow along with what this thread actually generates.

I agree, I like the sideline on field events in their meet previews and recaps. That's why I want to see even more coverage of field events. Maybe it would help to bring in a former field athlete when it comes time to writing EOY review articles and making AOY selections so those athletes get their due.

Blocking them sounds like a good solution but the problem is that certain posters, and they tend to be the same ones, take over a discussion, and in so doing, they effectively kill it.

So, what we are left with was a perfectly good discussion that has been rendered worthless and a waste of time. And blocking them still doesn't leave you a discussion worth following - they already ransacked it.

I mean even Twitter/X requires you to register with an email.

And the Bill of Rights doesn’t guarantee the right to troll LetsRun with off-topic political conspiracy randomness. So stop hiding behind it.

And it's asking too much for the moderators to keep deleting these types of comments.

Armstronglives destroys every thread he invades. The threads he's on would need a full time moderator just to keep him off.

But. I agree with you that many interesting discussions were taken so far off topic that they are no longer worth being on.
