it was clear from the interview after the race that Rachel was burning for the win there and wasnt a happy camper about getting 5th. when asked if she signed up for both NXN and Footlocker just in case one didnt go as planned she kind of gave the interviewer an incredulous look and said no her intent was to win both. full stop. and thats good to hear. kid has a huge appetite to win and that hunger is definitely still there for her. maybe more so now.

Rachel Forsyth, an early leader in the girls race, finished fifth in the girls championship race on Saturday at Nike Cross Nationals. The Michigan Division 1 state champion and NXR Midwest champion finished in 17:38.6.
Leachman will need another year or two of consistent training to approach (born-and-raised-at-altitude) Melody Fairchild’s course record. This assuming the course hasn’t changed at all through the years.
Leachman's 16:50 makes her the second fastest sophomore girl of all time on the Balboa Park course. And she only needs to improve by 12 seconds in the next 2 years in order to break Melody Fairchild's 16:39 course record.
Except Chiara Dailey, who turned down NXN to run Foot Locker. By the way, her family put up a big tent with free coffee and donuts for all the spectators. That was nice.
