If he is indeed guilty, why would you want him to get out? Do you condone rape?
Sir, absolutely don't condone the alleged crime but let the hapless Kiwi have his day in Court and get both sides of the story to these allegations. Zane and his advocate haven't spoken yet. Dudes are jumping the gun here all over this thread. There are precedents which could disculpate Zane within days, if uncovered/probed. Impartiality needed because many involved in this case will see opportunities to extract cash.
All the more disturbing is the lack of compassion on this board from posters, for this Kiwi, who made some bad decisions in his life, of late.
Give me a break. This guy is a convicted doper, who 'masterminded' one of the weakest coverup attempts after he was popped. Now he's charged with rape and you're disturbed by a lack of compassion?
How many more violent crimes does he need to commit before you stop feeling sorry for him?
Please stop spreading misinformation about a country you know next to nothing about. You've never lived in Kenya and going on a short visit as a tourist doesn't make you an expert. Kenyans should thank their lucky stars that it wasn't the French who got their evil colonial claws on them because the country would've become a true basket case in every sense (as is every francophone country on the continent) and all its athletic talent harvested to compete for France. Laissez-nous tranquille!
The heir to the estate of Kenya's most famous white settler family was freed on Friday after spending more than three years in jail for killing a black poacher, in a case which inflamed tensions over land and race.
Another case involving a Briton released after 3 years, manslaughter case, ostensibly much more serious than Zane's case. Perspective.
Yeah we get it Ghost. He is likely to get a lenient sentence because he is white, and you think that is a good thing.
we understand your views on the matter of white people committing crimes in Kenya.
Absolutely not, Sir, but there may be mitigating circumstances. I suspect Zane may even suffer from grave psychological stress, affecting his behaviour (short of insanity, though), since his ban. Let's wait for the result of the second hearing.
Too many unanswered questions re the AK47, it's ownership, provenance, and the rape allegations. Not clear either.
It's sad to see people condemn this Kiwi on hearsay alone. Zane needs support, as well as the lady involved. An amicable resolution might be win win for all parties. Zane does deserve a second chance, one feels. He's no career criminal. Does not belong inside. His life is on hold now. One life.

So in general terms, how many crimes should one commit before the laws on the country they are in should be applied?

Again, please stop. You know nothing about Kenya. Tom Cholmondeley was Kenyan, not a Briton. His family, the Delameres, was one of the richest, most powerful families in the country (think Rothschilds or Vanderbilts or something like that). Zane Robertson is a broke criminal.

I disagree with you there. It is absolutely not in the best interests of anyone (other than men who rape or those who, strangely, want to promote or minimise it) to ever come to an "amicable resolution" where a rape has been proven. Its not in the public interest.
Tom Cholmondeley was a 4th generation Kenyan who was born in Kenya. Are you singling him out because of the colour of his skin or saying that people cannot be a certain nationality because of their skin colour or name? So are you saying that black British athletes cannot be British after all? You are aware that many black offenders have also received remarkably light sentences/early release in Kenya.
I also don't agree with your attitude that you should be able to direct the discussion of this case. The Kenyan state has no authority on discussions on a crime outside its own jurisdiction, and no precedent or statute to claim that it is influences a court hearing. People on here are free to discuss this case as much as they choose, and in general, shutting down discussion of serious alleged crimes is unrealistic unless you operate a police state, and often leads to more speculation.
I don't get the impression that you know much about legal process, criminal procedure, sentencing guidelines and legal basis.

Yeah like taking EPO is the crime of the century. At least he isn't going around shooting up schools like you yanks.

Overall he is just a terrible person, a proven cheater (doping + tampering) and reported criminal (rapist + possession of an AK 47). With the exception of the AK-47, that sounds eerily similar to our own Salazar - who of course still has defenders here.
Yes, there are lots of worse people, but still, they aren't subject of this thread.
