minus 6 seconds for each person for the 2023 squad. 3.022 course. However, I think the course is actually very smooth and faster this year than last year so maybe only minus 3 seconds? What do people think?
GPS data from several top runners shows a median distance of 3.00 for Saturday meet and 3.09 for Friday. Somehow the wheeled distance was measuring 3.00 and 3.06, but clearly with this much data the distances were closer to 0.09 miles different.
Since Rich wheeled the original course to be 3.08 I think 3.00 or 2.99 miles would likely be accurate for the Saturday night races.
Do you seriously think that GPS data is more accurate then a wheeled measurement?
He sometimes does that to highlight the very good performances with the more stars the more exceptional.
Who put girls running over 21 minutes in the sweepstakes race?
They were part of a team of 7. I assume the top 5 of that team were good enough to be in the race, but they didn't have enough depth to put a full 7 in.
Did anyone notice that the mile 2 split seemed to be off? Didn't the sweepstakes winner run something like 4:4x, 5:00, 4:08. In looking at the splits at other races I saw a similar pattern. Did anyone else notice that?

Yes, lots of people noticed that. The 2 mile marker was in the wrong place.

Based off this weekends speed ratings Niwot girls would have gotten smoked. 4th at best. Their boys team would not have had a scorer for Herriman or Carrol. I understand fully that speed ratings are taken with a grain of salt and are not indicative of what would happen in a head to head race but man I think either St Vrain or Woodbridge is off.
Where did the CA school Arnold Beckman come from???
Pretty crazy
5 of the school’s top 8 (ever) times were run in that race.
one guy went from 17:34 last year to 14:55
another guy went from 16:54 last year to 14:58
Their top guy was running 15:19 last year (slower than Shetty last year) and ran 14:17
Who is the coach?
Assuming it is the same coach(es) as 2021, they know how to produce elite level performances. In 2021, they had 2 high caliber runners. Joshua Schuld 4:11/8:56 Zeid Hussain 4:14/9:01

the course was not measured with a "garmin watch." That was a joke by a letsrun
No it isn’t a joke. This is from the Woodbridge email that went out today from the meet directors:
We use the same Garmin watch to measure our courses over the years. The latest Garmin was purchased 3 years ago and we have used it for the 2021 meet at Sivlerlakes and the 2022 meet at the Great Park. The detecting system of satellites we use is the GPS and Glonass. The time of detection is set to 1 second.

It sounds too stupid for me to believe. Can you post screenshot

Dear Coach(s), On behalf of the Woodbridge High School and the Northwood High School Nations, we want to thank all of you for choosing to attend our meet this past weekend. We sincerely hope that the athletes, their families and you enjoyed the event and came away with a positive experience! We like to address a couple of issues with the event that we area addressing: 1. First to our friends in the White division: For who-knows reasons, many of the chips in the White division were somehow not encoded correctly or damaged. So, in many cases (about 30 %), the runner would cross the finish line, his bib would be read and then the next numerical bib number would also be recorded. So, one runner would have 2 bibs assigned. In other words, if I wore bib # 12545, I would have 12545 and 12546 recorded for my finish. We tried to clean up as much of this as we could during the meet, but we did not catch all of them and at times we chose the wrong bib number to delete! We're going through the video of the finishes to clean this up. I suspect it would take us this week to finish the process. We're asking for your patience. 2. To our Friday friends (Red and White), we all know that there is no such thing as an accurate XC course due to the variety of surfaces the race is run on and there does not exist an instrument that deals with the issues each type of surface presents (bumps, grass, dirt, etc.). So, being consistent from year to year is the best we can anyone can do. The procedure we use includes calibrating the Garmin using official UST&F certified road courses. We calibrated the watch using two of these courses (GG and Orange). Apparently, when the watch battery charge ran out and we recharged it, these settings were changed back to the factory defaults (unknown to us as this has not occur in the past). Consequently, our course ended up significantly longer than it should have been. When we remeasured the course on Saturday, we determined that the course was actually 3.06 miles. We understand how deflating this is to your runner but the only recourse we have is to apologize to everyone. Our meet next year will be on September 20th and 21st (tenth week prior to the CA. State Championships Meet as always). Hope to see all of you back at our meet. Team registrations will be open () on January 1, 2024! Enjoy and good luck with the rest of the season
