Yeah, I did pick him to win the whole thing and that did not inspire confidence, although his last 100 was quick.
Yeah I expected him like Kipngetich to be able to get further up on the backstretch and then cruise up to the first two. His last 100 was quite good but that backstretch was pedestrian by his standards making it far more interesting than I expected.
The 800 is just such a bummer of an event ever since Rudisha. As someone who ran the 800 watching these rounds is just painful. My 1:52 a$ shouldn't be able to keep up with you all through 600.
Yeah, no huge names or dominant figures. But Emmanuel Korir and Brazier were both deserving figures undone by injury in Brazier's case and who knows what in Korir's case. They made 1:42s look relaxed.
Amos and that Ethiopian whose name is escaping me were pretty fun for awhile. Never quite capitalized on the promise. Speaking of promising figures -- what happened to Dobek?
I believe Clayton earned the Olympic medal while still under his college coach’s training program. I’m thinking he has an ongoing hamstring or Achilles issue (or both) that is keeping him from full fitness. when he tries to accelerate at the finish, his body tenses up. He has brought up the hamstring in interviews before so I think it’s been an ongoing issue for him
LOVE the high five to the Italian runner before the finish. hahaha
Loved it, super-weak heat certainly helped. The 800 is competitively bad, but I do think by the Finals it should be full of 1:43 type guys and be a good race like last years final.
I watched the three Spaniards who all advanced and all ran smart races. Attaoui let himself get boxed in but hes young and his plan was good; fortunately it was Murphy boxing him in and Murphy opened to pressure the guys on the outside ...
This is why automatic qualifiers is stupid. Just take the 16 fastest times. It produces horrible track and field. The distance junkies will call it 'tactical' racing, but it's actually called boring racing.
