It occurs to me that Mechura and Hushagen, each the reigning Minnesota AAA State CC Champion & now NXR Heartland Champion, are both Juniors. They have another year to run again!
And Hushagen was an All-American (20th) at NXN last year. Can she improve on that place this year?

The top 3 Heartland boys are all juniors actually. It would be cool to see one of them win NXN a year from now
That course was short I ran it after the competitions concluded and it was about 50 meters short of a full 5k. Granted it was perfect weather and trim it was still short
Nope, it’s not short. Heartland has fast runners. No one out of 15 runners that I checked had shorter then 3.11. Some as much as 3.14. Even winners had right at 3.1 or 3.12 My runner had more distance here then fort dodge state course. Race went out extremely fast even through 2 miles. It’s funny Everyone wheels stuff and even that’s not the same. Also plenty of articles stating they had multiple people wheel the same course and everyone had a different result. Bottom line is kids showed up and went out very fast and some could handle it and some crashed.
