This is massively out of date but I found a good article a while back. About people trying to get ahead of the testers. I don't agree with all of it, but I wondered if you might find it interesting - the process of developing new things and then analytical chemists trying to catch up! They were doing this back then. I'm pretty sure there is a vast incentive to do this now. I also read/heard that various things have been 'overlooked' in the past but don't really know and don't want to comment on that as it would be a terrible thing to say regarding a specific situation without proof.
