It's a start. Some quotes from article, and from referenced links.
"However, testing for EPO remains subjective, and scientists who reviewed Bol’s testing continue to criticise the methods Wada recommends."
"The scientists argue better methods for testing for EPO – using mass spectrometers to analyse proteins – should be developed because the method the WADA review validated as effective was "old-fashioned and rather unsophisticated"."
"The WADA review was not of Bol’s case specifically but explored the broader method of testing for EPO, which world scientific experts still criticise as being "subjective, old-fashioned and unsophisticated"."
"... the Australian laboratory did in that respect a good job technically, but ironically the interpretation of the results done by the laboratory and the second opinion provided by … the WADA laboratory in Cologne was nevertheless completely wrong!"
It's almost like you want faulty tests to incriminate clean athletes.
Nah, the tests weren't faulty.
The Bol team (the same people who got Lagat off his positive test) managed to lawyer up well enough to cast enough doubt on the result.
All this does is give cheats another option to get away with doping, like Bol and Lagat did.
I think Rinaldi posted in this thread or another one, and his explanation was quite plausible.
But as you point out, the fact that the same manager/team got Lagat off the hook in exactly the same way, when every rational person knows Lagat was likely juiced out of his mnd at the time (the height of the EPO era) should make one retain some scepticism here.

You are correct. Whenever some African transplant is caught doping, certain forces pull out all the stops to get the holy African off the hook. This is doubly true for any E. Africans at the very top.
