A $1 million/year contract is pennies to them for the right marketable athlete, and Tuohy is just that.

all i did was provide the fans what the leaders and head of sport could not provide, a free coverage and easy access of race videos and and an effort to keep fans engaged and active

I know an agent who knows what a lot of the recent offers from sponsors have been, and ON pays a lot more than you think. ON outbid Nike and the other brands for the athletes on the current ON roster.
That might not last forever, but at least for now while ON is trying to build up a presence in the United States they are willing to over pay.
