She'll be running 157 in 2 or 3 years and could probably get close to 155.5
Sorry to burst your bubble, but Touhy simply doesn't have the footspeed to run an 800 in 155.5 . Not now, not in the future.
I'm not sure why you keep fantasizing about Tuohy being an Athing Mu level talent in the 800. You are way off. Give it up already.
because he wants parker valby to be the star 5000m runner lol
he doesnt want katelyn to be a 5000m runner because he doesnt want to see her succeed, the young 5000m runner with the biggest upside to become competitive vs africans in the future is katelyn tuohy, armed with a strong kick, her kick will only get stronger and faster
the pro distance runners now are late in developing a finishing kick speed while katelyn is learning it as early as college level and will get insanely better with "pro" training
most top collegiate 5000m runners have now is fitness and endurance, thats why they are able to run fast, but they are identically THIN, meanwhile katelyn is not thin, she is healthy, she'll be lighter when she goes to the pro ranks, she will undergo natural weightloss as she ups her fitness, endurance and training
what katelyn has that most distance runners dont have is natural raw speed, for a 5000m runner, katelyn is fast in mid distances, shes 20 but can hang with pro runners 4-7 years older than her in a mile race, they have altitude training while she has little speed training below altitude
always she will, she will not
why not focus on the present and live in the moment ... ezrun has become a tuohy hater i see
The high schooler Addy Wiley ran 4:27 and would have finished a few meters behind her so let's put the brakes on calling a 4:24 an all-time great time. She ran a good time but nothing spectacular. Someone else said it is the equivalent of a guy running a 3:57. Good but not great.
Addy Wiley's coach is sued for doping his athletes, nobody really is impressed with addy wiley in here, she defended the johnsons, it disgusts me when i see her name

Its impressive for many reasons ya hater
katelyn tuohy is a 3x hs national xc champ, undefeated in xc for 3 years, pretty much broke every record on every course she ran in HS and now in college
owns almost 30 NY state records (including age-group) and katelyn owns the 3000m, 3200m, i5000m, and mile national hs records and american U20 3000m record, NCAA mile record
katelyn is an NCAA 5000m champ, undefeated whole XC season, and is an NCAA XC individual champ, 2x national ncaa-runner up (3k/5k)
all those distance achievements and yet she can run a 4:24 mile on her first ever collegiate mile race, first mile race in 3 years
addy wiley's 4:27 is impressive but if you compare it to katelyn's 4:24 and what she has achieved in other distances, wiley's 4:27 isnt so special, a distance runner can run faster and its not even her event, while addy is a middle distance runner, addy cant even get close to katelyn in at least one other distance event
so yea i dont think youre in a place to call katelyn's ncaa mile record as "nothing spectacular"

Spectacular would be if she was only a few seconds behind the WR. She is 12 seconds behind the WR. 4:24 is good but not spectacular. 4:17 might be considered spectacular for a collegian.

If she had the same coach as addy wiley tuohy would break the world record but she would never come close to people like addy wiley's coaches .. so no thank you.. hope addy wiley is safe .. hope she doesnt play the victim card in 3 years

She’s in COLLEGE!
Is a 3:55 for a collegian male spectacular? Because that is the same 12 seconds behind the WR that Tuohy is. Nobody would consider 3:55 spectacular. Very good, yes, but not spectacular.

Everyone, just let him think its not spectacular, hes a nobody. What he thinks doesnt change the fact that ITS ✨SPECTACULAR✨

Did you make the same type of factual when Hutchins and Cook ran faster than Tuohy in HS or Cook as a U20? Maybe but most Tuohy fans spent months down playing the times and telling us why Tuohy was somehow better.
A NCAA record is roughly an under 23 age group record. Not quite because e.g. Jenny Simpson, née Barringer was 23 when she ran 3:59.9. Sure, college athletes do have some restrictions vs. under 23 full professionals, so let's ignore that some NCAA records were by 23 or 24 yo athletes. And of course, Tuohy has two full outdoor seasons left as u 23 (born 2002) to improve!
Her time is very good but everyone knows there have been quite a few Africans faster at this age. The European All time under 23 list has 8 athletes sub 4 and 27 athletes 1500m sub 4:03 outdoors.
Currently active athletes with sub 4 at 20-22: Hassan, Muir, Klosterhalfen
sub 4:03 at 20-22: Ennaoui, Reekie, Weightman, Sabbatini, Healy
(note that Tuohy has not run anything close to sub 4:03 but I think she could maybe do so in summer and I don't feel like counting out the sub 4:05 athletes from that list)

No, it is VERY GOOD!
If we are going to classify this as nothing special then I guess there has never been a W distance runner in NCAA who has done anything special as virtually all of the records are much farther off the WRs than the M counterparts.

Jenny Simpson ran 3:59 at Colorado. I would maybe consider that spectacular.

Actually Jenny Simpson's 3:59 converts to a 4:18 mile.

I said virtually...and even that spectacular time is 9 seconds off WR which is a little further off the M WR than the NCAA M 1500 record is I believe (9 vs 7).

Tuohy would have finished 6 seconds behind Simpson in that race. Not spectacular.
