It certainly helps to start the final leg with a 10 second lead. And 14 seconds over Arkansas.
It does, but she also ran the right pace for her. And not too slow or they would have caught her too easily, and not too fast or she would have faded. She is a Grad student so she has a lot of experience - to my point about not putting Whitaker on anchor - at least yet.
I still say they won't run this team at NCAA as little time between 800 and DMR and still not a lot between mile and DMR (and then have to run mile next day). Better for the team to try to in 800 and place high in mile if possible. Or try to go 1-2 in 800.

and they are both pretty strong XC runners - certainly stronger than Whitaker and Willis.

They could do this. Stanford not (yet) in running for the team title. DMR more fun for kids and produces '4 champions'. Notre Dame did this with Nuguse a couple years ago.

I guess they could, but nothing is guaranteed....if Arkansas has Van Camp healthy they could field a team that would be well under 10:50........again they had a 2:11 800 leg (and a 3:23.8 1200 leg) yesterday and still ran 10:56. Stanford will need something much better than 4:42 while maintaining the other 3 leg times from yesterday
