Ryan Tuohy came second in the Section 1 championships today. He won that race as a freshman a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, he did not progress very much in the past couple of years. However, the North Rockland team did. Their #3 to #7 have progressed substantially in the past couple of years. So much do that they completely destroyed the Competition today. Their top 5 were all in the top 20 in the merge and their #6 and #7 were not far behind.
Can we see them at NXN?
Today at the state meet, North Rockland did take second.
And look who took first. Monroe Woodbury! They struggled at the beginning of season but they crushed it at the state meet. Now that’s peaking at the right time. I think this might be their first ever state title. Last year they lost in the tiebreaker in class A, although they won the overall NYSPHSAA merge and NXR. What a redemption from that.
Both teams should be able to autoqualify for NXR if they keep it up.
Even if Pasek is at 100% at Feds, the big field is gonna give a lot more points to Saratoga’s 4 and 5, which is going to hurt their chances of making NXN

Honestly, there are lots of boys teams that can make NXN this year.
States will give us a better idea, because NR will be racing Ithaca, Colonie, MW, Ward Melville, Auburn, and some other good class A teams.
Xavier and Saratoga are other teams to not count out.
Xavier is not in Class A, but a very deep team.
Saratoga didn’t make states but got 3 individuals there. They will have an opportunity for a revenge at feds.
How are they working FEDs this year? When I coached we had to be top16 NYSPHSAA and there were PSAL, CHSAA, and AAIS schools there that were not good teams.
Next year it’s hard to see which boys team in NY is even the best because all of the top teams are senior-heavy.
North Rockland had a great season and appears to be returning the best squad from states / feds. They can win these meets as they return 4 of their top 6. However, they will need to find a 5th and preferably a 6th, but they also return another sophomore who ran a 17:55 in the NXR open race and spent a lot of time in their top 7 these last 2 years (even scored for the varsity at sections last year). Also another 18:16 freshman from the open race, and because he’s a freshman he has room to grow and take himself to the next level next year.
Next year might be North Rockland’s last opportunity to do big things like win states and make NXN. Their #1,2,4 will be seniors.
Fairport is anyone’s guess. They return everyone and their #1 nonsenior from XC 2023 who missed this season due to injury. They are capable of winning states and making NXN, however, in 2022 and 2023 they won McQuaid and ended up not being close to winning states and NXN. They need to figure out how to peak at the right time
That isn't a bad time. He could make top 7 on nearly every team.
No it isn’t a bad time. it’s an indoor 3200m school record and an indoor PB for him. He obviously is getting a thread because of his sister. Which is fine.
