There are none so blind as those who won't see, because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not.

I can kind of see this being true.

It's not just heart disease that's apparently increasing among young people. Colon/rectal cancers in 18-35 years old have nearly doubled in the past 30 years. It's thought that sh*t diet, increased alcohol consumption, and a sedentary lifestyle are largely to blame for this.

That's what I mean - a lot of other nasty stuff has been steadily rising over the past 20-30 years among young people. I wouldn't be surprised if some of this is due to the craft beer culture that started in the early 2000s and we're now starting to see the effects. Back in my day (late 1980s/early 1990s) once people got out of college you were either (1) a light social drinker or (2) a heavy drinker/alcoholic. Now there are tons of people who are "moderate drinkers" and pound down 4-6 high ABV beers/week. They may not even look obese or out of shape. Plus continually poor diets, low amounts of exercises, more stress... this stuff adds up.

I was being facetious. Look out for those beers. They’ll kill ya quicker than a vaccine.

We can assume he was as were the others that were hospitalized. It as the race required it to participate.

I haven't heard of many FULL marathons with this many people getting hospitalized let alone any half marathon. The only one that sticks out is Chicago 2007 when they cancelled. Twin Cities went on the same day and it was pretty warm and real humid. and I'm sure a number of people ended up hospitalized but no deaths. I ran the 10 miler, which was USATF 10 mile championships. I remember going by quite a few elites that were dropping out.

It would be equally foolish to dismiss the idea that the vaccine could be a factor than to automatically assume it was the vaccine that caused what seems like to be an outlier of an event.

A half marathon with one death and 16 hospitalized on the upper echelon of moderate conditions?

Name one race 25k or shorter in any conditions that had anything close to this happen. I don't recall any.

Video seems to confirm what people were saying earlier in the thread regarding weather being a non-factor at least for anyone in the early waves.

I thought when the race weather is very hot the race director changes it to a fun run. Instead of running I walked that day.

Yes and still there is a lot of reference to runners dropping dead of heart attacks or heat strokes or maybe of genetic factors that running cannot cure (Jim Fixx of course died young because in his family dying before the age of 30 of a heart attack was genetic).

A lot of people like to point out that people who eat healthy and exercise have died younger than people who smoke every few minutes and eat fast food for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Jim Fixx had a high total cholesterol over 200 which clogged his arteries and that's what he died from.
