Agreed. At the end of the day it is quite simple: comparing the two races, on that day, would you think the stronger runner is the guy that run faster, on a harder course with terrible pacing, or the guy that run slower on an easier course with better pacing?

Eh, I saw both run and I think the only justification for claiming Hall was better than Rupp at the trials would be experience -- it was Rupp's debut. But fitness-wise, etc. I just can't buy that Hall was ever on Rupp's level.

Hall wins. I don't see Rupp still hanging on with the moves made in that trials race. Rupp might have been content to race for second with Meb if that happened.
