The Republicans' brilliant infrastructure plan will merely involve shoving money at private interests, pointing to reduced up-front financing costs to claim they're saving our children from public debt, and then skipping town when it comes to questions about where the damn funding will come from. P3s are not more efficient and they do not cost the public less. In fact, the opposite is true. The short explanation for why is that private contractors do not take on these infrastructure projects out of their deep concern for the public welfare; they do it because they expect to make a profit. That profit comes at our expense.
Dems should not support any infrastructure bill unless it is on their terms. Anyone who suggests they should compromise with this administration and hand Trump a win before the 2018 elections should be attacked with rhetorical torches and pitchforks.

They, in turn, only focus on large roads, bridges and tunnels where they can put tolls up to collect money forever.

Correct. Many companies are world-wide. They figured out long ago--same as the US--that the best way to earn favorable treatment when selling your products overseas was to invest money in those countries. So, hire locals to handle sales, support, and do part of the manufacturing. Because that money is not actually US made earnings there is no reason to move that money to the US and pay US taxes on it. Local taxes are already being paid and the local profits can be used to further invest in that country; as jobs for the company, etc.

And that is also a problem the new tax rate will solve. We should not put companies in a situation where they have to leave the USA for lower taxes unless the federal government negotiates a lower tax rate specifically for them. Companies like Apple hold billions of dollars in cash in low tax havens like Ireland. They refuse to bring it back and reinvest it in the USA because of the higher tax rate. Please educate yourself a little before commenting on this topic again.

Bannon has followers. He's the leader of a movement. I think it's safe to say that Trump's most hard-core supporters are the Bannonites.
But you are right in that we don't really know how big and powerful this movement is. We shall soon see. If Trump's approval falls below 30 in the next few months, it will be in large part because of Steve Bannon.

My brother is a conservative economist. He told me that supply-side economics does work in times when capital is scarce. He also said the tax bill was extremely stupid policy because right now capital is plentiful.
In other words, companies don't create new jobs unless there is greater demand. Giving them extra money only helps when consumers have lots of spare cash but companies don't already have the money to expand. Neither of these conditions are true at this time.

Yeah I agree bad move by Sessions. We’ll see what this actually means soon. But both ends of the political spectrum are pretty hypocritical when it comes to the whole “states rights” isssue. Conservatives love “states rights” when it comes to limiting access to abortion, preventing loving couples from getting married if they are gay, or allowing states to execute people. They hate it when it comes to legalizing pot. The exact opposite is true of libs.
