Once again, whatever money DOGE saves....trump will give away with stupid stuff.
Canadians staying home will cost the country any real gains from DOGE.
Canadians have long been the top international travelers to the US. Even a 10 percent drop in their travel spending could cost the American economy $2 billion and result in 14,000 job losses, according to the US Travel Association.
This scenario is already playing out, with Canadian air travel to the US down 13 percent in February, according to Statistics Canada.
Isn't Trump's real aim to work on the tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires and increase taxes on all non-millionaires?
I mean, it's not secret, right?
sort of, yeah.
trump's plan is to:
1/ cut income tax again (individual and corporate) via lower rates and by shrinking the IRS audit program, which will let rich people cheat ever more.
2/ replace the income tax with a sort of sales tax in the form of tariffs. And yes, this will fall hardest on poor and middle class Americans. Higher prices at Walmart will hurt them quite a bit. Rich people...not so much.
3/ cut regulations to kick up econ activity
4/ force companies to invest in their businesses here, which should increase business investment and incomes.
So yeah, the government will get less from rich people paying income tax..and more from poor people paying an increased sales tax (via the tariffs). This is how Republicans think: Help the rich people and hope it trickles down to the poors.

Remember my theory about DOGE being nothing more than a propaganda arm of the White House? Because Trump is a pathological liar they need an agency and a guy like Musk to make the Trump lies somewhat more palpable.
Exhibit 2,032
Mike Walz say tonight that Elon Musk is taking on the Signal gate and will get to the bottom of this thing. Perhaps finding out how a journalist could hack into his encrypted group chat.

Frick canada. Those people are obsessed with U.S. politics and culture, Americans don't give a frick about canada. Most people are poor, if canadians aren't coming here they aren't going anywhere. Go for it. Virtue signal away! In other news on the righteous side of the border our southern border is all locked down. That La La Land policy of catch and release is over. Those flights in the middle of the night are over too, shame on the klaine/harris administration for deceiving the American people about border crossings and the border. America first!
I typically appreciate your posts good sir, but what's your point?
I have worked for, with, and around a lot of Ivy League grads and in my experience, it is quite rare for them to "wear it on their sleeve" like that. If those same people were in this discussion thread, they still wouldn't admit it.
You are the one who has repeatedly countered some of our more combative contributors by asking it they attended Yale, and I felt that the clarification was significant. Nothing more nefarious than that.
I appreciate your thoughts on that. And I would say that is generally accurate. In most settings, it tends to make people feel less than adequate so it can be embarrassing (yet occasionally useful in business), so I feel the downplaying of it. It can sound condescending or pretentious, etc. But forgive me, I get a bit riled up at times from all the negativity and fear mongering on here and it is hard to resist on an anonymous website. I am guilty of getting lost in the sea of it and for that, I apologize. I worked incredibly hard in academics for almost a decade, sleeping very little, sacrificing my 20s and early 30s for time at my desk, so I get discouraged when I see people criticizing others when they themselves haven't achieved anything.
I need to remind myself those combative people should be ignored, but it is quite difficult when it is ongoing and seems to never let up.
Thanks again for the down-to-Earth feedback. It is truly appreciated, and this entire discussion thread would be a much better place to visit if many of the other conservatives emulated you!

Income tax should be cut. High W2 earners in high tax blue states - that didn’t vote for high taxes- are screwed the most.
Let's not forget the negotiations in the Israel war. Trump gave Israel all the weapons Biden was holding back (bunker buster bombs, etc) and more with no constraints. Now they are bombing hospitals and other civilian infrastructure, killing entire families. This is a genocide by Israel. No condemnation from the Trump admin, just continued support. On many occasions he has expressed desire to develop real estate there after removing Palestinians. These would be personal business ventures secured by the US and Israeli military.
- The UN Partition Plan of 1947 aimed to divide the land of Palestine into separate Jewish and Arab states. The Jewish community accepted the plan, but Arab leaders rejected it, resulting in violence between the two groups even before the official establishment of Israel.
- When Israel declared independence on May 14, 1948, neighboring Arab countries (Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon) invaded Israel in what became known as the First Arab-Israeli War or the War of Independence.
- The Suez Crisis was triggered when Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser nationalized the Suez Canal.
- Egypt and Syria launched a surprise attack on Israel on the Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur in October 1973.
- Hamas launched rockets into Israel in the early hours of October 7, 2023.
Don't be another antisemite. What would have happened if they launched rockets into the U.S.?
Thanks for the history lesson. It does not change the facts of today.
Trump's actions with Israel and Gaza are causing innocent civilians to die by supplying Israel with the weapons and no conditions. Trump has not condemned the killing of civilians. He is attempting to personally profit from US military and financial involvement there. These are facts. Nothing I stated is anti-semitic.
If a Mexican Cartel launched rockets into San Diego from Tijuana, I would expect the US to use intelligence to identify the perpetrators and surgically take them down. I would NOT expect the US to bomb Tijuana to a pile of rubble without any regard for the number of civilians killed.

So true. I went to a Shakespeare festival in Canada in 2022. Every single show began with a land acknowledgement. And they worked random criticism of Trump into it.
Thank You President Musk. Addled assistant Trump always the last to know, sad.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), foreign investors held approximately $32 billion worth of U.S. agricultural land in 2020.
Foreigners hold about 3% of US agricultural land. Context helps since to most people $32B sounds like an astronomical number.
For the record, I have no problem with the US implementing a system where foreigners and foreign corporations cannot own property in the US. This would help alleviate the housing shortage and keep foreign money out of a lot of local politics. I would also like to see some checks on foreign money in politics. But the reality of those things is this: Republicans and Trump cater to the rich regardless of whether they are foreign or domestic. So I won't hold my breath. I will expect poor foreigners deported and rich criminal foreigners bribe their way out of deportation.

It’s still a lot of money and a lot of labor. Let’s be honest, the other side caters to the rich just as much or more, they just lie about it with a smile while virtue signaling.
I agree about your foreign property points.
I don’t think Trump would argue with you on having rich immigrants here. Doesn’t he call it a gold card?

Self employed people are double taxed as well. This needs to change. It encourages people to abandon business ownership and work for a set wage enticing you with healthcare coverage which is astronomical for business owners. I have to spend a lot on business expenses to offset a lot of this, which is crazy to encourage that over offering better investment incentives.
RESULT: Democrats have flipped a state Senate seat in Pennsylvania. Dem James Malone won by 1%, in a red district Trump won by 15%. This is the second Dem legislative flip in 2025, after a red state Senate seat in Iowa earlier this year.

Institute mandatory voter ID and mandatory in-person voting and let's see if Democrats win any elections again.

The tax plan I saw a few years ago included a pre-bate for low income earners that waived the increased sales tax on necessary items. Don’t know what the current plan looks like but I don’t think they’d just double taxes on the poor. The people who benefit the most would be frugal high income earners. The super wealthy are barely taxed now so nothing changes there.
