geneseo sucks!
interesting results by our region at nationals...guys stepping it up and some guys not having their best days...O'Brien. Novaro, and Schwelm had big days grabbing all american status, while kosgei, dubois, wager, lee, chichester, and berube not running that well. tough course with very soft footings on parts of the course from what i have heard
track time. track time. who will win sunyacs? geneseo? cortland? a different team?
what i'd like to see is someone break down the outlook for next year...i know cortland loses a lot, does anyone else?

I have been busy, but I guess I made my call on NYU a week early. I did see one or two people come on and give them prop's. Looks like if Lee had run closer to his regionals race NYU might have been 2nd.
As for next year you can also plug in Fitzhenry from NYU who ran top 4 for them most of the season before having a horrible last few weeks? Anyone know what happened to him, hurt or sick?
Check out some photos online, Lang is leading the race with Kosgie at 400.
Predictions 2010 Regional
Geneseo (deep up front, once again didnt make it to the end when it matters)
NYU (return 2-3 up front, and seem to always reload)
SLU (return top 3 from NCAA, 4/5 can come from anywhere)
UR (have Lang up front, have a decent pack)
Cortland (lose everyone but Curry, Moran era is over)
TCNJ (return almost everyone, cant run worse than this year so..)
I can't see TCNJ that high especially with fredonia only losing #2 Williams. Also they return newly All-American Novara.
Does Newell have eligibility left for Cortland? He'd be a factor for sure. DeRusso would have eligibility right? He could really save this team.
I'd say:
Geneseo - No question, strong through 5 (at least)
NYU - Schwelm AA, strong 2-3
SLU - Ramsey leading the region with Berube and Heymann, strong 2-3
Cortland - if Newell returns. Strong #1 in Curry (could possibly challenge ramsey, heymann, berube???). I'm sure they have more guys ready to step in.
Fredonia - as stated above return 6 of 7. AA Novara, good season for N. Guarino, fairly tight 3-6 pack.
Interchangeable for 6th:
UR - esentially what mr boston said
Plattsburgh - Lose 2 key pieces but still strong through 3. Heymann could grab the 1 stick as well.
UR seems to be in a good spot going into next year. If they continue to develop and Cortland doesn't make some serious progress, I can see UR placing pretty well next year.
TCNJ can't possibly run worse, so you're putting them 6th? That makes absolutely no sense.
Geneseo
NYU
Fredonia
UR
SLU
I heard through the grapevine that Kosgei will be back.

I think streb was injured, he ran 26:30's at the UR meet and thats the only results I could find for him.
Fredonia looks to have a real solid top 5 next year, williams underperformed all year. If Manktelow returns, Brockport could be top 6 or 7. They graduate no one.

if you take out all of those seniors roudy ryan is in 31st place.
Moran/Daniels era at Cortland is def. over, guys who were all american last year not even close, lose SUNYAC title to Geneseo, Patrick needs to leave and let a good coach come in.........everybody predicted this would happen in 2 years and got it right.

1st at regionals (more important than SUNYACs last I checked... you must be from Geneseo), 5th at NCAAs (ahead of Geneseo and behind a very good NYU squad). I think that those are very respectable finishes, on par with previous years (save last year when they won nationals obviously).
Next year will be a tough year for them, though. They deserve more credit than people are giving them, they won't drop out of the top 5 without a fight. They still have good guys. Definitely won't be the Cortland of the past couple years though.
On another note, I heard that Brett Dolan (still affiliated with Geneseo as an assistant coach of sorts?) was arrested in Cleveland on saturday evening. Anyone care to elaborate?
Mostly true Big Will, but I think the point was that they are good from all the recruits and training that happened under Moran. They had a great 5 year run starting Seamus frosh year when he was 6th at regionals till now. All with the same basic core group. Nally, Henry, Wager, Dubuois, Greenlaw?. Throw CFred and Cloke at the begin, and Obrien and Curry now. Curry is the only guy not affiliated with Moran. Most of those guys have been running well for 3-4 years, and it could be argued have gotten worse in some ways. I am not saying they wont get it done under Patrick, but it is yet to be seen. His clock starts now. NYU just got on the podium with a whole different group than when they were 2nd and 1st 2-3 years ago. Not one holdover. Geneseo men while not getting on the podium yet have been good long enough with many different groups of kids to have earned some level of respect, even if you believe they dont get the most out of their talent. It will be interesting to see what all 3 teams guys run indoor and out.

Obrien was in that core group that came in with Wager Dubois and Greenlaw. Looks like the end of an era. Hats off to those Cortland boys who ran pretty damn good in that span of 5-6 years if you count the c fred time period(4th, 3rd, 1st and 5th) at the big dance with 2 2 1 1 at the last 4 regionals. Seamus and fred really put together some team.
oh baby, seamus!
seamus is the butter to cortland's bread
Yes, but it took Obrien a few years to really make an impact, he has developed rather nicely. There are a handful of guys who could take a run at sub 9:00 steeple this spring after the great fall seasons they had. Obrien, Lee, Mwenda

O'Brien ran 8:57 last year at Nationals.
I'm predicting a 8:43 or better this year with the XC season he had.
