Touched a nerve, have I? Don't much like being recognized for being a low-intellect, MAGA loser? You've railed at being "insulted" and run to the mods every chance you get despite the smearing that you do of Roche and his fans, but not once have you denied any of it. Because we all know it to be true. Quacks like a duck and all that.
I don't much bother with this thread these days because, as much as it amuses me, there's not much sport in "debating" with incels with 75 IQs. You're a self-parody of a MAGA keyboard warrior who is obviously deeply insecure about your lack of intellect and success and somehow feel better acting as the forum bully by incessantly defaming a left-leaning, somewhat goofy ultra-runner and podcast. Really must piss you off that he is relatively successful at both. But we know that story: it's all rage and grievance at people who are more successful than you are.
Long-winded post from someone who claims to not really care. Incel MAGA behavior if I’ve ever seen it. Mods, can we rename this thread “creeps (David Roche fans) who keep stalking this thread and calling strangers Republicans for unknown reasons?”
Good work with the VPNs yesterday!
Didn't care. Where did I say I didn't care? I said that it had gotten boring to debate incel MAGAs with 75 IQs (sorry, redundant...it's a given that you have a 75 IQ).
Once again, you didn't deny that you're a MAGA. Because this is exactly what this is.
This is an anonymous message board. You're not being doxxed. Are you not a Trump supporter? I've made this comment a bunch of times and it would be easy enough for all of you to lie through your teeth and say that you're not. I find it an interesting sociological case study (like studying monkeys) that you won't lie by saying that you dislike your narcissist leader despite lying about and defaming Roche on the daily. Apparently your fealty to the orange baboon is so strong that you can't bear to even say it!
Yes, I'm the smartest guy here, though that's a low bar in a MAGA circle-jerk thread. I also pay more in taxes (unfortunately) than you guys make in a year, but whatever. Rage away, losers. I get it: the libs, blacks and illegal latinos are all to blame for you living in trailer parks.
This is definitely umm, no... from the other thread. Likely another one of David's personas. Such a bizarre tack to take in a thread that couldn't have less to do with MAGA or politics at all. I'm willing to bet Roche haters are fairly heterogenous on the political spectrum. Politics has nothing to do with why we can't stand this guy.
very on-brand for david to be so "selfless" and generously give up his golden ticket entry that would've gotten him back to WS100...
truth is he's scared to race the big boys again and risk finishing off of a podium.
but in the eyes of the SWAP cult it's this big gifting moment. all hail roche!
The guy is so calculated, he knows exactly how to pull on the heart strings of his golden retriever fanbase. On his podcast today he mentioned several times how Javelina is “technical” and “hilly”. You could ride a skateboard on that course it’s so smooth. And then claiming that Megan executed “one of the greatest coaching performances of all time” and that Will Murray is basically Jim Walmsley because he can’t comprehend how a random guy from New Jersey beat him by 8 minutes. He’ll never get another golden ticket, especially not at Canyons!

Javelina is often run in road shoes. About as non-technical and flat as a trail hundred gets.

What he said was he thinks Murray can be the next Jim Walmsley. He could be right. Time will tell. And I would consider 8,000 feet of gain hilly in a 100 mile race. And yes, Terra's performance was one of the greatest in ultra history, so to praise his wife for coaching her is bad or something? So what am I missing? We are hearing opposite things here.
Will Murray is an exceptional talent, but I would question the assertion that he will be another GOAT. I think he will be in the mix at Western States. Top 10 certainly, top 5 likely, top 3 maybe. If you follow his training on Strava you know he is a monster, which is why it's not at all surprising to many that he beat David.
David knows that if he can't beat Will, he sure as hell can't win at Western States. That's why he turned down the spot after flooding social media with bs videos about how he was going to win and set the course record only to drop out like the coward he is halfway through

Are all you Roche-Stans this dull? Way to exaggerate the numbers to try to make David's performance seem more impressive.
In what world does Javelina have 8000' of climbing? The fact is that it's around 6500' of climbing.
The scary thing is you probably are a Liberal voter like me. We're supposed to stand for real facts and science and not BS. Then again the delusional Boulder-Liberal types like the Roches tend to spread misinformation so I'm not surprised their stans would also...

Oh my.
1) Javelina doesn't have "8,000 feet of gain." According to the race website: "Total Estimated Elevation Gain | +6,296 feet". You were off by 27%.
2) Tell me you're not an ultrarunner without telling me you're not an ultrarunner: "I would consider [6,296] feet of gain hilly in a 100 mile race." Umm, no. Certainly in a 50k, and probably in a 50-miler, but absolutely not in a 100-miler. That's an average 1% elevation change, or 52 feet per mile. That's "rolling," being charitable.

Completely agree, but to his rube audience, 6,000 feet and non-bike path sound pretty daunting. peace

Dude is super hated on Reddit and that site is 99% liberal

“Praising your wife and the guy who set the record is not a PR strategy; it’s what grown-ups do. File it under Perec’s 'infra-ordinary'—the modest human gestures that matter more than any invented narrative.”

Apparently grown ups also use bizarre sock puppets to avoid criticism.
I have been listening to the Roches from 2020 to 2024, almost every podcast.
What caught me first was the science-driven advices and my love for ultra-trail running. And the positivity was refreshing at that time.
But with time, I basically felt less and less engaged because from very science based and ultra news commenting it went more and more self-promoting stuff. Even in a very indirect way.
And also, maybe because I am from EU, I had a lot of difficulty of assessing what those guys truly think or believe. I am not even sure if they do themselves. It is always always positivity. Always an identity stuff ("You are a doctor so super intelligent" "Oh, I am lawyer so I => all of that is so simplified, so job-based and sometimes just so false - notably the intelligence part -). What kind of people are they exactly? Thay say they are just fueled by love but everything I hear in those podcasts and that are clearly said between the lines are not very love-based. You always have to be so positive, so frequently all the time, that it does not even feel true anymore and loose a lot of sense. Is it a NA culture type of stuff?
The whole Golden Ticket giving away stuff is surely his decision. But I hope they both understand that it is not that gracious to the man that received it. Some people would feel kind of humiliated by that. I do not know... especially the fact of giving it very in front of an audience, with a video that is reposted all the time in every social media possible. I do not know guys you do not need all of that to be validated. Look at your idols, Kilian, Jim, Courtney and all of them.. not perfect but they never do that.
Not a revolution for this thread but just wanted to adress a european view those issues and, if, by any chance, they cross by this thread, you do not need all that.
They are good people I am sure, good friends and good citizens. But to be honest, I am not sure what they show to their audience is good values to. Paradoxically, the full positivity over-to-good-to-be-true love forcing is sometimes creating an opposing effect of what they seem to stand for and also can be pernicious by itself.
Hey Claude, is the Javelina 100 mile race hilly or technical?
“No, Javelina Jundred is generally considered a non-technical and relatively flat 100-mile race, not hilly or technical. It’s held in the Sonoran Desert near Phoenix, Arizona, and is known for being one of the faster 100-milers. The course consists of five 20-mile loops on mostly dirt roads and non-technical trails with minimal elevation gain.”
