why does David Roche keep banging on about being in sub-4 at altitude shape?

Did you hear in the latest podcast where he says he didn’t race any elite races or competition from 2017-2023 bc he saw it as a conflict of interest to race any of the runners that he was coaching. lol yeah sure buddy

Did anyone happen to catch the comments Megan is talking about? They delete EVERYTHING. It would give them so much more credibility if they left it up and let their followers stick it to the "haters". It's such a cowardly move to delete it AND THEN cry about it.

Not specifically, it was a huge rant from both of them starting with Megan consoling him about his fear of his upcoming 50k, and then stuff about Megan being criticized about her post partum exercise. A lot more too, it’s hard to even keep track. They eventually got around to talking about an interesting study, but the first 40 minutes were a sob fest. I’ve been listening to them for awhile but it’s getting pretty intolerable lately.

Every time in the introduction of the episode they list all of the topics and studies they’re going to discuss and it seems like it will be relatively useful information for runners but they’re just so self indulgent - it was 40 minutes before they got to the first topic. They really need to be more respectful of their listeners’ time. I did find it funny when David said absolutely nobody hate-listens to the podcast as that is my main motivation these days

With all of their talk about how great they are during their podcasts, have they actually sped up the pod? Ie made it play back quicker than what it was recorded at.

When I first heard them speak on the podcast I thought they were on crack or something. Than I thought maybe it was just "chipmunks' type speed so that it plays back at a faster rate.

I used to listen to the podcast on the indoor trainer (cycling) but haven't done much of that this year. Sounds like they are still as insufferable as ever.

Remember this is a guy that also "cried" over getting an obscure Strava segment (or "FKT" Record as he calls it) and after doing a hill repeat workout.

It was very predictable however. First rule of being a narcissist-cult leader when people criticize you: 1. Play The Victim!

And you’re going to cry if he wins western. Also there are a bunch of coaches in western states this year. Should they all drop out?

David and Megan went for a long bike ride together. They both recorded it with their Garmins. They were away from their children. Wasn't David's response to someone asking why he records with the Strava app that he needed to be in contact with his kids (even though he still wears his Garmin watch)? So that would mean that they should both be recording the ride with the Strava app so they can be aware of any issues with their children, right? And if you're response is that their phones can be in their pockets, then that means that they trust/prefer their Garmins over the Strava app. So if David still wears his watch when he goes out running with his phone, why wouldn't he just record the run with his Garmin watch, which he chooses when he's on the bike? Does no one see these types of inconsistencies?

They both just try to use whatever will make them LOOK faster than they are. It wouldn't be a big deal if they didn't post like they were the most amazing athletes ever. Go ahead and say David says other people are better than he is. He's an INSECURE narcissist. They do that, and then hope other people tell them they are actually the best--which David does on almost every podcast with Megan.

I listened to the pod after hearing this. Insane. He really expects us to believe that he didn't run any elite races for 7 years because of this. lol

David almost cries saying he sacrificed his prime athletic years because he didn't want to race against the athletes he was coaching. Does he expect people to actually believe this?
