I heard all coaches, across all sports had to take 2 weeks with no pay just to keep money afloat. As much as I like to see the positive in things… that’s tough to get behind.
Davis according to some transfers in the portal is in huge financial trouble. Already took away some scholarships and budget money.
Team flew in to Azusa Pacific meet that morning, ran that day and flew back that night to save money.
Even been told that entire staff may be on chopping block with potential Davis just cutting the program with their move to the Mountain West!
Wait I’m confused. Is “shortysupplier” talking about UC Davis or Western Illinois?

A bit sus...
1 girl in the portal only. has been there for months.
a couple guys in the portal only. only one has entered since this was announced.
i think there may be something happening on the financial side of this but to claim 'some transfers are saying' is a bit much
Has UC Davis ever produced any truly notable athletes outside of their brief run of Big West dominance on the women’s side? All I really remember is a program plagued by eating disorder issues and the men consistently posting subpar times. From that perspective, the move by the head distance coach makes sense—leave for a less prestigious institution (academically and athletically), but get the opportunity to run the entire track program. It’s a logical step, but it also feels like the kind of “temporary home” that coaches take before a better opportunity comes along..
I'm not sure who the brain trust is at UC Davis, but if they look just 50 min away there's a highly experienced coach who's currently an assistant coach that may be interested in taking over the X-C/Distances. Will make Kiptoo look like an elementary school P.E. teacher.
Can't gain traction. No one wants to stay. Plus youll end up with an assistant coach (the interim) who will get your Athlete's hurt, not develop them. Speaking from inside knowledge. team has no solid direction unfortunately.
Reporting to the Head Track & Field Coach, the Assistant Coach performs all duties necessary to support a nationally competitive Division I program in the Big South Conference.

Are they going to actually hire someone? Or just let Shaddy ruin what’s left?
Drake position has been offered several times. Most recently to a Dokota distance coach who turned it down. $140k opperating budget for a D1 program isnt the best. Will be curious what admin does there moving forward.
