A lot of you conspiracy guys in this thread look really stupid after today's preliminary hearing testimony. Not just normal stupid, but hysterical, unhinged kind of stupid.

DiPape Jail interview (confession):
Q: “What was your intention going there (to the Pelosi’s home)?”
A: "“Well, I was basically going to hold her hostage and talk to her. If she told the truth, I’d let her go. If she told a lie, I’d break her kneecaps.”
Q: “How did you get in?”
A: “It was not easy. There are cameras everywhere. I broke through (the glass door with a hammer) and I tried to turn the handle, and of course it’s locked. I body slammed through it. I didn’t feel any pain. I was surprised. All that noise, he did not hear it. He was asleep. I told him ‘I’m looking for Nancy Pelosi.’ He was like, ‘How can we resolve this?’ I was like, ‘I don’t know.'”

Because DiPape's lawyer (Adam Lipson) isn't an idiot like many LRC posters in this thread, he will NOT be arguing the following: (1) DiPape was there for a social visit with Paul Pelosi, (2) DiPape and Paul Pelosi knew each other, (3) DiPape's confession was coerced, (4) the break-in was fake or staged (US Capitol police surveillance video shown in court today shows DiPape hitting window with hammer), (5) the FBI and the San Francisco cops framed DiPape or (6) any other batshift conspiracy theory.
DiPape's attorney Lipson will be admitting that DiPape broke into the house to bust Nancy Pelosi's kneecaps for political reasons, but arguing he wasn't trying to kill Paul Pelosi and his attack on Paul Pelosi was not premeditated, because DiPape only broke in to attack Nancy Pelosi, and Paul was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
So the defense strategy is to go for lesser charges of non-aggravated assault and breaking and entering. That's about all you can do with all the evidence against DiPape - body cam video, confession video, Capitol police surveillance video, the hammer, the busted glass, the 911 call audio, DiPape's unhinged internet postings, etc.
