At least all of us in Australia...and probab;y Canada, Scandanavia, France, Germany, UK etc etc
Yes, JD Vance is a fool...and the only reason Trump picked him as VP is to deter anyone from another (so called ) assassination attempt. Can you imagine him stepping into Presidency?
Sam, we do appreciate the perspective of an objective observer from outside the USA. Thanks for chiming in.
And in fairness, Vance attended Yale for law school. He actually received his BA from Ohio State... a nice school, but not exactly Ivy League.
So he went to the best law school in the country instead of the 5th best undergrad. I view Yale law as better than undergrad.

Basically saying he is an idiot no matter how much education he can buy. Or, even the best law school in the US doesn’t teach sht about constitutional rights of people. They just want to make more money and take advantage of regular folks.
Once again, whatever money DOGE saves....trump will give away with stupid stuff.
Canadians staying home will cost the country any real gains from DOGE.
Canadians have long been the top international travelers to the US. Even a 10 percent drop in their travel spending could cost the American economy $2 billion and result in 14,000 job losses, according to the US Travel Association.
This scenario is already playing out, with Canadian air travel to the US down 13 percent in February, according to Statistics Canada.

Canada will be our beautiful 51st state soon. So this will be null and void.

Yale is definitely a top-tier law school... credit where credit is due.
On the other hand, although I have some good friends who are Buckeyes, there is no way that you can classify Ohio State as the #5 undergraduate school in the U.S. Not even close.

Isn't Trump's real aim to work on the tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires and increase taxes on all non-millionaires?
Trump has really normalized the practice of proudly being racist and hateful, and always being dehumanizing instead of thoughtful.
I actually think the right-wing Christians love Trump because of how different he is from Jesus.
They are tired of calls for honesty, or modesty, or helping the poor, or turning the other cheek, or chastity, or any of those boring virtues that they are sick of.
Trump glorifies lying, cheating, stealing, p....-grabbing, and deriding elders, women, veterans, and people of other races or ethnicities. I think they like this way better than their previous Jesus.
agreed.
clergy in Christian churches have been told not to be 'old christian' but rather 'new christian' meaning more trumpy.
"Multiple pastors tell me, essentially, the same story about quoting the Sermon on the Mount, parenthetically, in their preaching—'turn the other cheek'—[and] to have someone come up after to say, 'Where did you get those liberal talking points?'" Moore said.
"When the pastor would say, 'I'm literally quoting Jesus Christ' ... The response would be, 'Yes, but that doesn't work anymore. That's weak," he added. "When we get to the point where the teachings of Jesus himself are seen as subversive to us, then we're in a crisis."
That was interesting--I think it does show the real soul of US Evangelical Protestantism how it happily renounces Jesus and that old-fashioned Sermon on the Mount stuff, and embraces Trump instead, to be honest.

The 13% drop in February is likely influenced by various factors beyond federal leadership. The exchange rate, with the Canadian dollar trading around $1.35 CAD per $1 USD, makes U.S. travel more expensive, discouraging spending. Additionally, global air travel trends are still recovering post-pandemic, with Canadians focusing more on domestic travel, which saw a 10% rise in expenditures in 2023. Seasonal and economic trends, including winter weather and inflation, also contribute to reduced travel in February. Furthermore, the broader U.S. economy remains resilient, with $306 billion in exports to Canada in 2022 far surpassing tourism's impact. Canadians are also diversifying their travel destinations, with a 15% increase in trips to Europe reducing reliance on U.S. tourism. Blaming leadership for these complex and multifaceted trends oversimplifies the issue, as broader economic policies and natural market adjustments play a far greater role.

The funny part is I'm willing to bet I'm the only one who actually attended an Ivy League school on this thread.

I typically appreciate your posts good sir, but what's your point?
I have worked for, with, and around a lot of Ivy League grads and in my experience, it is quite rare for them to "wear it on their sleeve" like that. If those same people were in this discussion thread, they still wouldn't admit it.
You are the one who has repeatedly countered some of our more combative contributors by asking it they attended Yale, and I felt that the clarification was significant. Nothing more nefarious than that.

Cool - good on you. I’m doing a masters at Hopkins now though…certainly “close enough” though obviously not one

Yale law is basically undisputed #1. I was referring to undergrad…I view Yale law as better than Yale undergrad

I appreciate your thoughts on that. And I would say that is generally accurate. In most settings, it tends to make people feel less than adequate so it can be embarrassing (yet occasionally useful in business), so I feel the downplaying of it. It can sound condescending or pretentious, etc. But forgive me, I get a bit riled up at times from all the negativity and fear mongering on here and it is hard to resist on an anonymous website. I am guilty of getting lost in the sea of it and for that, I apologize. I worked incredibly hard in academics for almost a decade, sleeping very little, sacrificing my 20s and early 30s for time at my desk, so I get discouraged when I see people criticizing others when they themselves haven't achieved anything.
I need to remind myself those combative people should be ignored, but it is quite difficult when it is ongoing and seems to never let up.
