Actually the DIII school she coached at is in Eastern Texas. I was surprised myself that she went to a DIII school, but it made sense since her husband coaches too and they wanted to be together. Letourneau is a tough place to coach at as its a highly academic, very Christian, out of the middle of nowhere school. Plus they don't have a track on campus. So recruiting must of been tough for her. I met her in person a few times and she is a great person with a tough blue collared Chicago background. But yea....family is first and once you have a family you make the decisions realizing the family will be part of the decision.

Sadly the same thing that often happens. The schools hire a young and inexperienced coach, that can't really coach other then what they did in college, hire their friends and don't keep their admin straight then they get let go. Even if they have some aptitude it is s disservice to them and the student athletes. This approach is great way to ruin young coaches careers.
Not always, many cases when a coach is young and a go-getter who is submissive to all request in order to show they deserve the opportunity they get sucked into a position where the dept cuts corners and puts more on that individual over time than they originally was suppose to handle and eventually the pressure becomes too much. You use someone until they’re used up, let them go, hire the next go getter, rinse and repeat. You’re correct it is a disservice to that young coach, we often get too sensitive to these athletes and forget that these young coaches were once those athletes too and more importantly are also people.

Also, Idaho State demotes this position's title (he was Head XC/Associate Track & Field Coach, it is just listed as an assistant all around) and lowers the salary (he was making 65k, it is listed as 50-55). Don't they want someone good? Hey this guy was making more money and not doing well, so please come take his job and we will pay you less....
I don't get the logic behind any of this with someone who wasn't getting it done in the conference.
When I ran in their conference they had like 8 guys on the team. Seems like they do decent for 8 roster spots and almost no scholarship/travel money

In my mythical mind, it’s a dream job. That’show much I loved running there. I live 45 minutes away and would apply to coach XC this fall as they’re likely not to have a coach for a few months but I am moving at end of summer .

1 - he is being forced out but they are politely letting him "retire"
2 - they will make a diversity hire for director
3 - With the power 5 likely separating from the rest of the NCAA, this is a good opportunity but likely will not attract any big name coaches from top 20 NCAA teams.
This guy called it 100%. A diversity hire, actually coming from D3. I'm sure he is a very good coach but Yale clearly didn't aim big for someone that can get them great on a nation stage, or even onto the level of Penn, Princeton, or Harvard.
Jaworksi hasn't even coached men in 10+ years.

Cry harder! The man has experience in the Ivies as both a student-athlete and a coach, which obviously counted for something. Exactly what issue will he have coaching men? Didn't sound like it was a problem when he stepped in to assist the Dartmouth men during a portion of their debacle.
Do you say the same for guys who've only coached men and take over a women's program? If it really is an issue- he does have assistants! As for the diversity jab....ain't nothing wrong with a lil seasoning! His hire doesn't change the fact that white male coaches are STILL the majority!

Save the D3 hate, most Ivy's essentially operate like D3s, just on a bigger scale anyway. Aside the fact he was an Ivy League coach of the year in 2014, look deeper into Smith College. Hard to get into, great academics, notable alumni, high endowment for its size, etc. He was dealing with similar types of kids at Smith that he's going to have to deal with at Yale and he's essentially going to recruit a similar type of kid at Yale that he recruited at Smith. That means a lot to the admins when applying for Ivy's.
Anyone who knows him knows this is a great hire for Yale. Stop being salty.
