East Carolina: Damar Forbes has been added as a Men’s and Women’s Assistant Track and Field / Cross Country Coach, bringing in experience in the same role at Loyola New Orleans (NAIA)
The XC/ Distance program is about to be nonexistent and terrible. All the runners should leave that program while they can. Forbes is probably a great guy and a good coach, but he is a sprints / jumps coach, as that is his area of expertise.
I personally know (via conversations with Virgil) that he does not care about the XC program. He wants to limit the numbers of the XC team, and he wants them to use the XC season to train for the 800/1500 events. The runners will get no more than $2,000 in scholarship $.

They got rid of the sprints coach also so needed a replacement in that area as well
Not that I disagree with you about the distance but they also needed to replace Cheeks and the throws coach.
Pretty solid hire honestly. Probably won't be there long
