PSU had to move fast to save face. When you also have an excellent candidate like Jack it’s a win-win.

I don't know. Maybe he will be amazing. But seems like the logical step for him was to actually coach a group or coach anyone before being in charge of an entire program. Guess we will know in a couple years. Best of luck to him. He will have to live in the shadow of knowing Portland State could have hired Carl Rose lol.

Yeah, this was a great hire. Jack is bright and has been a huge piece of the success for the Pilots in the last few years.

most of their team is transferring, and they were already small to begin with. He will spend more time finding students to come out and run a 100m to hit 14 athletes than he'll spend actually coaching. their school's reputation is ruined for recruits for at least a few years.

I wouldn't wish that job upon my worst enemy.

Jack is a great hire. Put in his time with the Pilots and helped them recruit stud athletes in the US and abroad. He paid his dues, he's a good assistant coach to be elevated to the head position.

OMG the City of Roses could have hired the man, the myth, the legend Carl ROSE himself. Instead they went with the local asst Coach. Sad day for the Roses

Jack will do great. P State is pretty much the same as Portland. Tons of resources, private school, beautiful safe campus, Legendary coaches with deep ties to the university, national level success for over 20+ years. He will feel right at home.

haha nice try ya troll bag. Bottom line is PSU has had success and if money isn’t an issue for the coach and they’re passionate you can thrive there. Even with all the undead roaming the streets.

Jack was tired of holding the stop watches and running 3 lane indoor meets. Ten years you learn a few things and I’m sure he is motivated to try to prove himself. That’s all you need is motivation. PU state was good once and it can be again….. even with the rampant rent camps and drug use surrounding campus

Expect IU to stay in the bottom half of the BIG 10. Ed will do nothing to get the Hoosiers back to being a dominant team within the conference. He is not a very good coach…1 out of every 10 recruits he signs gets better. The rest either gets worse or stays idle…not to mention he is a horrible hurdles coach. I give him five years before the ax comes down hard.

Georgetown - Assistant Coach

Kinda funny how they turned it down, when Portland State was 54k.... for a D1 program. Puts in perspective how desperate Jack must have been.
