Consistent standards? No thanks. Coaches should be able to hire whoever the heck they want. If they think this person will do a good job then great go ahead and hire them. Just because a bunch of people on letsrun are complaining about not getting jobs doesn't mean we need to start adding guidelines to control us and our profession. There is no reason to establish specific guidelines for the hiring process. The best candidate a lot of times doesn't have the best credentials and they shouldn't be deterred because of a hard line drawn in the sand by some weird entity that you guys are hoping for. No thanks.
And I know you guys are going to say that administration's mandate specific demographics to be hired, however those people have been losing out to us white people for years and we are just getting a taste of our own medicine. Frustrating, isn't it?
You can either complain about it or try to better yourself and earn a position the tough way. Have a problem with it? Ask them how they've been stopped from getting good jobs in the past.
Winny the Bish you are the dumbest poster here. Instead of being a scumbag and accusing people of white privilege, why don't you think about the athletes that would have to deal with the consequences of unqualified coaches?
My son was an athlete on a team that made an unqualified hire for diversity purposes. Out of the people interviewed, they hired the least qualified one. It ruined the team and their athletic careers.
Performances suffered, injuries skyrocketed, recruiting stopped. They went from a national qualifying team to one that was at the bottom of the conference. Eating disorders. Dozens of kids quit. It was a nightmare.
