This thread summed up in 2 points

1. Guy goes out to see record attempt of run accross America. RV was driving with GPS tracker, no runner is seen on two separate passes nor on security camera footage. Team was claiming unbelievable running paces, such as two separate 25 milers (50 miles total) at 5:30-6:00 min pace with 3 hours rest. Not just for one day but for 40+ consecutive days.

2. After this thread goes up Team has appeared to have gone legit. Pace is now 10+ min per mile and daily mileage about 50%. He has legitimately run for 3 days now.

Outside of the videos and analysis of GPS data I am sure there is traffic camera footage, security cameras, etc. All this, on top of the mountain of circumstantial evidence it is clear what has gone on here.

I for one hope he sticks it out and makes it to NY the rest of the way. He may have only run half of it but he will get a sense of the real fatigue and pain that comes along with such an endeavor. if he quits it will be easier in the conscience but the penance is to now suffer the rest of the way.

This is embarrassing. We have certainly talked a lot the last few days and nailed Rob on some outright falsehoods. We need to get out there and actually witness this on the road. Is there no one out there that will tail Rob and his crew?? Anyone? Time to walk the walk. As others have said before, it's the weekend and not all of you are married with kids with huge responsibilities.

Here's the thing: I encourage people to follow him. Ultimately, though, it isn't going to prove anything. The question is not whether the guy is capable of running 25-45 mile days at 12-20 minutes/mile. (That is what we are seeing via the tracker now, and that is what people who follow him will see.) there are thousands of people who are capable of the same thing, and whether he keeps up that pace to do a trans-con crossing in what they will claim is 55 or 60 days, or whether he quits in Ohio or sooner is really not the question.

The question is: has he already cheated? The answer is clearly yes.

Reason #1 I know he has cheated: This morning, along with tens of thousands of runners around the world, I uploaded my morning run to Strava. It shows where I ran, my heart rate, my cadence, distance covered, and time. It took me about 30 seconds. They have a mobile app that works on your wireless signal-- if you can post on Facebook, you can upload to Strava or a similar site.

Adam Kimble-- a much more accomplished runner than RY will ever be-- tried a transcontinental record attempt this spring and logged it all on Strava. See here:

We know RY has the technology to do this. He hasn't. There is no logical reason why he wouldn't, other than cheating. It's much easier to upload to Strava then it is to take photos of a computer screen and upload those to Facebook.

I'm a teacher with summer free time and I live in Indiana. How do I follow to know where I could meet him? I just binge read the whole tread and am thoroughly frustrated no one has since found him. I'll gladly meet him at the IL-IN border or anywhere near. Live just South of Indianapolis if anyone wants to carpool.

There's no point in following the guy around now that he's actually running everyday. My prediction is that he'll quit at some point now that the miles are really adding up.

Under UK Data Protection laws it may not be possible to search, but the Royal Corps Of Signals may be prepared to either confirm or deny whether a Robert HP Young, DoB 18/10/1982 represented them as claimed at biathlon / duathlon etc.

The journalists could try asking

: who may also hold records (their site only lists competitions back to 2013).

I feel sad - my feeling is he set out intending to do this (although in a slightly wide-boy way as he's previously massaged the stats to stretch the truth and figures a little creative license won't harm anyone), can run competently, but the enormity of the challenge and the temptation of the RV means he has fallen for his own propaganda and believes he is infallible. I would love to see the GPS data and be proven wrong.

Any money through GoFundMe will have gone to him directly; we tend to use JustGiving and Virgin and other similar sites in the UK where the money is going straight to a registered charity, but GFM money goes into any bank account. My reading of his 2015 GFM is 'please pay my bills because I'm skint'*, not promising to pay that money to a charity.

Exactly. The ten minute video where he serves up every way of documenting and proving his feat other than the one that would be beyond reproach is embarrassing to watch. THEY HAVE A HANDWRITTEN LOGBOOK. The world knows more about my runs over the last three months than a guy trying to set a world record.

And though it is true that GPS data can be manipulated, it can't be manipulated very quickly. These runs should be online within a minute of him getting into the RV. Anything less than this is a complete joke.
