caught? would need to actually test him before it's a risk. I suspect he hasn't been tested in years, and no reason to test him anytime soon given his race schedule etc., and in-competition test would require immense stupidity to get popped. (I'm not a long time follower of this guy, so maybe i'm completely missing races or other reason he would be subject to testing, so again, happy to have this corrected if others know more.)
iirc he did get tested after his win at Javelina but *not* after his course record at Leadville.. and one time before that when he raced the world trail champs (?). So yeah.. not much at all. There really should be out of competition testing and obviously after every race. It also should be according to WADA standards and not some made up regulation like WS uses(d) ("Quartz).
What a bunch of mouth breathers. Not hard to Google WS100 doping policy and procedures

Post-race testing is ridiculous. The athletes need to be tested 2 to 4 weeks before race day. If they can't enforce the rules, then they shouldn't have rules. Let it be the enhanced games. At least that's honest.
Both David and Megan are the “win at all cost” type. I would not be surprised if David has an Rx for albuterol. He wants any edge he can get, and I’m sure he can tell himself it’s not cheating. It’s just that his body responds to it so much better than everyone else.
They bring things up that no one was asking them about. When they do this, it makes one wonder if they are preemptively defending themselves against something they know they are doing. It also seems just entirely suspicious that they give the benefit of the doubt to athletes with positive test results. It’s not as easy to be accidentally exposed to substances at great enough concentrations to get flagged as they make it seem.

One of his athletes did serve a doping ban recently for testing positive for a masking agent. She claimed it was for acne but for all we know, it could have done exactly what it was supposed to do and ergo, the reason why it's on the banned list.
how funny you should say that because I know for a fact he has a script for albuterol, or at least did in the past decade. can only assume he's still using it. when I worked with him he "encouraged" me to look into it even though I had never been diagnosed with asthma.
also this is so freaking funny to me. I live in boulder and gold hill is, yes, a tough training run, but it's a training run. It's not a race. look at the leaderboard and it's not particularly stacked. he's acting like he already won western states or some highly valued fkt...bro.

Ah come on.. Allie O went through puberty in her mid 20s because of her ED and clearly had skin problems hence the acne medication. It was dumb and reckless to not get a TUE right away but she has one now.

I don’t think it was dumb and reckless because she’s been an athlete for a while. She knows. They all know when they need a TUE. Every athlete at that level understands that if they begin a medication, they need to file or make sure it is not on the list. I don’t believe it was some mistake when they know.
It’s just too easy to get sh*t from doctors or even Amazon and say “oops” later. A lot of them tend to be people invested in their social media presence too. The “look at me!” crowd.

Of course you are perfect and never forget something/make a mistake, right? Right?!

how did he encourage you? over email? if so, can you share some screenshots?

Albuterol is legal without a TUE under regular dosages. However if he is taking more puffs per day "a la Fromme style" to help cut weight and stay lean as an anabolic agent and stimulant then that is illegal. If he never gets tested then nobody would ever know.
And there could be other possible TUEs for gray area stuff not to mention whatever he was on after the bike accident.
So far he hasn't done anything really that extraordinary in outside workouts while wearing a real GPS watch. We'll see if he actually does a track workout of 1600m repeats in the 4:30s at Boulder's elevations. His treadmill workout was more like 4:50xx mile pace equivalent despite him saying he could "definitely hit those splits on a track" or whatever bs he likes to spout.
dude, David is not even in 4:10-4:15 shape. Maybe when he was 25, but that was over a decade ago
He definitely wasn't in that kind of shape a decade ago lol. We aren't talking about a college track star, he started running during college and it took him the entire 15+ years to get to where he is now.

I agree with those that say they may be preemptively defending themselves. However, bringing this athlete up is silly and I trust that she was taking the acne medication for its intended purpose.
