The DOJ is already investigating it. These hearings were meaningless.
Listen Linda,
These hearings served the DOJ a platter in 6 months that would have taken two years for them to investigate.
The legitimacy of the hearings went out the window on Day 1 when Chairman Bennie declared Trump guilty. Why have any hearings when the guy heading up the investigation has already decided the guilt of the person being investigated. It would be like a defendant being prosecuted for murder and the judge has already decided his guilt. Has Chairman Bennie ever heard of the presumption of innocence?
Nixon Watergate hearings were broadcast live 8 hours per day and the American people were glued to their TV sets and newspapers. Today's attention span of US citizens is about 5 minutes. They need tik tok learning. 70% of the Republican voters have not seen any of the hearings because fox news tells them they don't need to and it makes them feel like idiots for supporting this clown. But they will never admit that.
Trump and Trumpism is less of an indictment of Trump as an individual. He was always a grade A douch bag. It is an indictment of those that support him.
More specifically, it’s an indictment of almost half of America. He got 47%. What would he get today? 45%? 43%? Sad country.
And if we’re talking about Congress, pretty much the same thing. Almost exactly half have failed to criticize Trump or Trumpism. We’ve been given a huge and ugly insight into the massive lack of principle in this country.
Who would have known from day 1 that Trump had been actively trying to change the result of the election?
Who could possibly have looked at the Capitol tourists clubbing police with fire extinguishers and climbing through smashed out windows to get closer to the center of democracy and jumped to the conclusion that "Hey, maybe this is wrong?" without being a crazy partisan hack?
The problem isn't the partisan hacks that orchestrated the hearings, the problem is the partisan hacks that failed to condemn these actions and those that instigated them.
Right. It was essential to get all of this out into the public and written record. DOJ investigations don't do that. And counterintelligence investigations almost never become public without indictments. It was helpful to get Trump staff under oath. They are entirely different than when they are on Fox news.
Some critical events that one would presume that all Americans would want to know about, and that would never have come out without the January6 Committee, are the events surrounding John Eastman. That guy, more than anyone else involved, was determined to try and break any law that got in his way if it meant Trump would remain in power.
Eastman is the only one in all this that I would say is guaranteed to eventually spend several years in federal prison. As White House lawyer Eric Herschmann said to him, "I'm going to give you the best free legal advice you're ever getting in your life: Get a great fvcking criminal defense lawyer. You're going to need it."

It’s a running site. How about if all the sane people who are tempted to futilely reply to the Trumper Sally’s for the MILLIONTH time making the SAME points instead decide to run an extra mile today….or just SOMETHING else other than feeding them and completely wasting their time? Just a thought.

We can hope. But I often think of judges and lawyers and plain ole’ citizens all throughout the world - and especially in third world countries whom we talk down to about “Rule of Law” - wondering, “What the hell, you’ve got this person on tape trying to steal an election, and over two years later, they’re still sleeping in their own beds, with no handcuffs in sight? WTF ?!” (….and please stop lecturing us….)
1) the leader of an insurrection wouldn't call the whole thing off right when it was on the verge of success 2) they have forever given up the left tradition of protesting in government buildings. Oops!
What really happened that day, and this "insurrection" narrative is trying to cover, is that the facade of government invincibility was forever broken. There COULD be an insurrection in the future, and very easily, and not a damn thing the Feds could do to stop it. They're trying very hard to paper that over, rebuild that psychological barrier, with help from the useful idiots on this thread.
I'm kind of busy reading the Introductory Material to the Final Report by the Committee on the January 6th Capitol Riots. You should really do the same, to stay informed about what is being alleged and why. Here it is:
But if you go ahead and type up all the conspiracies you know about the FBI being involved in the Capitol riots or "the authorities" deciding to hinder the Capitol police, I will read it.
You are reading nonsense if that's the case. Lies in fact.
WE need whistle-blowers and secret communications to get the facts.
Calling protest an insurrection is another step to stripping us of our free speech
The Final Report of the January 6 Committee is being released soon. You and a few others should read it and consider the facts reported. It will change your mind about some of your current thoughts, perceptions and opinions which seem unsupportable in view of evidence gathered.
Also, many of those testifying before the January 6th Committee are "whistleblowers" and the Report will have citations to many "secret communications" that have been uncovered, including emails and other communications by and between John Eastman and Mark Meadows. See your needs will be more than met there.

You appear confused and/or nuts.
Takeovers of government buildings is illegal (and could even be considered domestic terrorism). Everyone can fathom that. People who takeover government buildings get charged with trespassing and other crimes.
The investigation and fact gathering of the January 6th Committee was to do the opposite of what you appear to be claiming. It was to show that an insurrection could occur and that the government could be taken over, if society is not vigilant and prepared. The Committee was trying to actually show the very thing that you claim they were trying to "paper over" and "cover." It's hard to understand how you could be so 180 degrees backwards on this, or why you would want to be viewed that way.

The US left has a decades-old tradition of sit-ins and other takeovers of government buildings. They call it "direct action." Or they did, before it was "domestic terrorism." Look at the corner you're painted into!
Apparently you're a Briton, if so this is none of your business and you're incapable of understanding the limits of our government anyhow. Our country is founded on the right to overthrow tyranny.
That's not what happened Jan 6, but it could have. The Feds are very, very anxious about that, hence their hyperbolic response.

You continue to appear confused and/or nuts. You can paint a takeover of a government building as a "direct action" or "traditional" if you want, but it's still illegal no matter what label you chose.
I'm an American who has read what the Committee has reported. If you read it, you may not be so confused about what you think they have reported and what "the Feds" are concerned about -- which is trying to make sure people don't illegally break into government buildings and threaten government employees at work, in an attempt to disrupt an election or any other important Constitutional process. That is what "the Feds" and 99% of people in America are "very, very anxious about" not whatever gibberish you are saying. Again, I don't see how anyone could be as 180 degree wrong on this as you are. You are very confused.
Jack Smith has given parameters to investigate all of this Jan 6th and events leading up to it as well as Mar A Lago documents. The documents case is a slam dunk. The beautiful irony is that Trump did not need to get in trouble with the documents at all. He was given many opportunities to return them but he could not help himself. And on top of that, his public confessions have obliterated his defenses.
The truth is that Biden will never put Trump on trial. He knows that he has huge skeletons in his closet courtesy of the Biden Crime Syndicate's influence peddling scheme led by his wayward and drug addled son.

Having Crime Syndicate skeletons in his closet hasn't seemed to to influence Biden's decisions on a host of other more important and similarly contentious issues, so I don't see it why it would affect a decision to charge and prosecute Trump. The Crime Syndicate skeletons certainly haven't stopped investigations of Trump regarding January 6 riots or Top Secrets documents at Mar-A-Lago. No one has even raised the Crime Syndicate skeletons, as far as I know. Not even Trump or his lawyers.
In any case, it's not even Biden's decision whether to charge Trump. Presidents don't get to make those calls. DOJ/AG does. The DOJ/AG made the decisions to prosecute the Capitol rioters, not the President. The same is true for possible prosecution of Trump, Eastman, et al. The only factor weighing against charging Trump with respect to January 6 riots is, very ironically, the possibility that Trump supporters will engage in further and larger scale rioting. The DOJ will have to weigh that VERY carefully when deciding.
The Jan. 6 committee presented a compilation during its final public meeting featuring key video evidence and sound bites gathered from its investigation int...
Ridicule and referral to your own subjective perception are no argument. On the contary, you immediately signal that you're not playing a rational hand at all, just talking trash.
Point stands that Americans have the right to overthrow our government. That's not what happened Jan 6, but the government is so corrupt that it correctly understands it could happen.
It plays a major role in stirring up the irrational fear of the domestic "enemy." Twitter files are the latest clear example of official mob manipulation.

WTF? The Capitol rioters did not have a right to try and overthrow the government. What they did was illegal, whether you call it a traditional direct action or not. Those guys are busted and are being prosecuted for it. Many are now in federal prison. I'm not aware of a single Capitol rioter, not even one of Proud Boys, who at any time presented a defense in court that they had a right to do what they did.
I don't even recall anyone on this board, except you just now, even making such an absurd claim. Where on earth did you get this crazy idea from? It's like Jim Jones/Charles Manson stuff. Helter Skelter, man! Do some more acid!
The Final Report of the January 6 Committee was released and describes, in factual detail, a conspiracy to stop the certification and transfer of power that is FAR more sophisticated and advanced than I think most of us understood as we heard bits and pieces of it uncovered over time. This is really disturbing and awful behavior by several people, and yes Trump is at the center of it. He's a criminal.
That Eastman guy is absolutely going to prison. Chesebro and Meadows - maybe. I think Giuliani and Clark won't get indicted. But some others who weren't criminally referred will be.
There are some serious heroes here - Pence foremost. Incredible commitment to the Constitution. Rosen, Donoghue, Cippollone are some others. And many of the people who reluctantly testified at the hearings.
This Report deserves it's own thread, but I'm not sure how to start one, attract reasonable comments and posts, and make it last. There is huge amount of information in here for anyone interested in what led to the January 6th riots and the Trump administration's attempts to essentially destroy a national election.

It is fascinating and frankly shocking that a sitting president could gather a group of corrupt and morally bankrupt people just like himself that were ready, willing and able to do anything to overturn the election regardless of oaths to the constitution. I am confident that this story is far from being completely written. The DOJ has much more than the committee and I think the Mar A Lago documents are also intertwined in Trumps criminality and treasonous disregard to the constitution. They weren't just souvenirs he wanted.

As I said on that day, Trump should have been marched out of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave in handcuffs and left in a jail cell until this all could be figured out and then left their permanently once it was.
I highly recommend you read the executive summary section Big Lie. If you thought you had a good understanding of Trumps Narcissistic insanity and deceit previously you will be rudely shocked further. Focus in on the table where Trump was told his election fraud conspiracy were false by his experts then days later told the country they were true.
