By tightened up the border you refer to the fact that border crossings dropped from 3.2 million in FY2023 to on track for about 2.7 million for FY2024 (fiscal year ends Sept. 30)? For reference, Trump had about 3 million total over 4 years. So, just to be clear, your idea of a secure border is one that allows about 2.7 million border crossings per year (about 3.5 times the annual average under Trump)?

Also, you may be oversimplifying. With "border crossings", do you include people who cross the border legally, including those who are seeking asylum? Do you include those who attempt to cross the border illegally but who are caught (in which case it's not really a border crossing). Are you referring to those who cross illegally, and who successfully get into the country? Are referring to some combination of the above?
