What a terrible hire that was. 😡
There is nothing wrong with hiring women and minorities, obviously. That isn't the issue at all. May the best qualified, best skilled and best fit win the job!
The issue is when humans, of any race, gender, sexual preference, etc. are hired only because of their race, gender, sexual preference, etc. and not because they are experienced, successful and qualified.
I know there are those people that are like "the white man has had all the breaks" and apparently that attitude is somehow justification to hire unqualified and possibly unskilled people simply because they are not white men. But that IS discrimination and is a revenge mentality (even if the idea that all white men have had it easy was even true, which I would contend it is not). If it was wrong to hire white dudes based on gender and race (which we know has happened), why is it ok to discriminate now?
How does it serve programs to hire underqualified people that get the job for discriminatory reasons that have nothing to do with their skill or experience? How does it serve those hires, to be put into situations they are not qualified for or to know that they got the job based on something they have no control over, and not because they are actually qualified? How does it serve justice or equality to ignore which human is best qualified and the best fit, and instead to base hiring decisions on gender and race? How does it serve humanity to discriminate based on ANY factor other than ability, skill, experience, and qualifications?
And, what does it mean about the value of cross country and track & field, that these sports are primary sports that are being used as a gender and race hiring priority, regardless of qualifications or experience. I'll answer that. It means nobody cares if cross country and track programs have sub par coaching or results. They are simply a convenient way to check a gender and race hiring box. Of little to no value to many schools otherwise.
Again, can you imagine the outcry if a school decided they would only consider white males for a job, regardless of the most qualified? Yet we are seeing so many hirings that are clearly based on being a woman and/or a minority and the same people that would be outraged about a gender and race based hire if it were an unqualified white male are ecstatic about that same thing with a non-white, non-male. We hear all the time "I've heard they are ONLY looking for a woman".
Isn't it time to simply hire the best human for any job in any industry, rather than to hire based on gender and race?
Also, how long before there is a lawsuit filed from a well qualified white male applicant that gets ignored or passed over and a much less qualified woman or minority gets hired instead?
If you just hate white people and/or men, then go ahead and rip on this post. If you do, you have no moral justification and you clearly have no interest in equality. You are also every bit as bad as any racists throughout our history, you just think you are getting an advantage and "revenge" now.
Rather than swing the pendulum from one extreme (in some cases) to another extreme, it seems to me it would be best to stop the pendulum in the middle and start treating ALL humans as equally capable, and then consider ALL humans based on their qualifications, character, skill and experience.
Bravo man, this was an awesome post! You’re spot on but so many people will disagree and it’s sad. But what goes around comes around man this usually doesn’t end well.
