Lowell is the new best team in MA? They've been better than UMass Amherst for decades. And BU is better than both.

UMASS Lowell is going to be fully funded w/ scholarships w/ in a few years

Their track is getting re-done

providence will only have distance runners, but i would not be surprised if lowell's men's distance team is better than providence's in a couple years

So much has been said about a UTRGV program that is likely to never be competitive...why does no one know what is happening at TAMU CC!?

Of all the south Texas majors they stand out as a program with potential. Cool city, TAMU system, decent facilities. Why are they dragging this out?

TAMUCC is not resourced very well in a conference that is far more competitive than most people realize. Potential is great, but support is not.

There is a reason they've finished near the bottom of the conference on a consistent basis. Good luck to whoever is dumb enough to take that job. They are going to need to be a magician to make it semi successful.

They don't want a full program. Job will go to a distance assistant from the Southland.

Anyone ballsy enough to take this job? Seems like a dead end job with a lack of resources to me.....

Curious if they could even get a single decent coach to look at it.

Plus UTRGV paid 68k and corpus is 50k

Ad wants full track team at corpus but only had 50% funding. They're going to hire a female. Absolutely going to.... So no one cares.. Goodnight.

Got to agree that Lowell has been a better team than UMass Amherst for quite some time but BU rarely has a TEAM. Good individuals at BU but not good team. Robyn is a solid coach. Hopefully she can find someone equally talented for the distance/XC job.

Yes that was my point. Amherst should be better than Lowell but they aren't and haven't been. They waited too long to restructure.

Now Lowell is D1 and Amherst will never surpass them. My other point is that Lowell is the new best team in the entire state. Their women are already better than BU, and their men are close (they redshirted half their guys this year). Harvard is still better than Lowell, but not for long.

I wonder whether Cornell will have to wait for the Power 5 schools to make their hires, before it can realistically choose its own jumps coach. Obviously a good jumps environment there--IIRC they had back-to-back D1 TJ champs not so long ago...

Other than UCLA, there are no major Head coach opening

amherst women and men are coached by a different staff. we were discussing the changes on the men's staff.

either way, umass lowell was redshirting everyone this year because it was their last year not being able to qualify for nationals after moving up from d2 (ncaa makes you wait 4 years)

there are power 5 jumps jobs open

Lake Erie head job opening up as the most recent coach goes to Wayne state

yes. i recall a different one of these young, quickly-successful guys (years back) who was allowed to resign for "personal reasons" when he was discovered to be sexually harassing female athletes. but, because of this "resignation," he was able to weasel his way back into coaching....where he latched on at another school -only to be let go there for doing it again. that happens when people who do bad things are permitted to "resign."

(this is just an example- i am not alleging the CNU coach did this!)

in the CNU case it appears the coach was "not renewed," as opposed to resigned. so, if it was (hopefully) a simple personality conflict, he will quickly be on to bigger and better things. but if he did something bad,it will be harder now for him to do it somewhere else.

i very much hope it was the former. it is sad when talented people flush their careers down the toilet.

either way, the school can't and shouldn't publicly cite the reasons he's not coming back.

sorry for all the heartache at CNU, but it is a great school and they will have no problem finding someone competent. a lesson here for young people (athletes and aspiring coaches): everyone is replaceable.
