I sent an email to Tom Jordan with this thread attached. It would be great to see this race at the Pre Classic in May.

Tom Jordan isn't interested in anything that he can't make a buck off.

Henry,
I must ask a question unrelated to your training but don't know how else to ask you short of emailing you (which I am sure you are too busy as it is).
I heard the great Marus Yifter ran good performances well into his late 30s. Was this during your prime years? Could you shed more light on your encounters with him? I know very little except what I hear in documentaries about his great kick and his olympic gold. Surely, if someone like Haile Geb. looked up to him as a role model, he must be a worthy mention.
good luck with your training
thanks.

good job....I sense a breakthough for you. You will be 169 lbs by February 1st if you keep at it! (chicken, vegetables and fruit only)....I see the 150's comining in March!
To heart of a lion
I ran with him 1978 All-African Games in Algeria. He droped in the 10k when he realize I will laped him,and I won the Gold medal.
Marus Yifter won 1977,79,two world Cups two Gold medals each.Moscow Olympic two Gold medals.5k and 10k.
I know most people here in the US don't understand runners as the other sports as basketball or football history. So it is very hard for me to explain in details to understand me.

The 235 day of training phase II.29mwp + 92mhc + 31mcd = 152 minutes great work.Just 92 minutes hill repeats makes me sweaty which led me to drop my weight to 172lbs.I'm getting there. This is my normally weight base on doctors examination.I can feel it is my ideal weight.
The next is athletic running weight and it is my pursuit of joy and happiness from here on.

congrats on the weight loss breakthrough this week. I hope I'm not understanding you correctly, however. You aren't trying to say that your idal weight is 172?
No world class runners at any level are 172 lbs, unless they are 6 ft 5 inches. Keep it up....you'll be in the 150's by spring!
Please note that in the last sentence, Henry points out that he is still working toward his athletic running weight, which is of course well below what a doctor's weight chart suggests.

Your BMI is 26.1, indicating your weight is in the overweight category for adults of your height.
(BMI of 25.0–29.9 = Overweight)
You should drop to 162 to be in the BMI "normal range"--you're almost there!
Keep it up. Good luck, all the best to you.

The 236 day of training phase II. 35mwp + 94mhc + 31mcd = 160 minutes.
The hill climbing brings my weight down to 170lbs today.I'm sweating as and dropping sweats as if I'm showering on the rain.
My face looks as the cheek bones are sticking out.I'm becoming a skeleton old man.

You are doing great, Henry! I think you have finally broken through your 'sticking point' on losing weight and will keep going into the 160's throughout February! Don't ease up! You've got 'fat' on the run!
tip of the day: (I read in a magazine): A glass of water in the evening, will stop 'after dinner' hunger pangs and stop late night snacking. A simple glass of water.
To keep it going,
he 237 day of training phase II. 39mwp + 96mhc + 23mcd = 258 minutes.I can feel it the belly burning fires.Perhaps it is those faty acids in internal belly changing into sweaty water showers.

Good going, Henry.
I see you have increased your hc minutes.
You are continued inspiration to me.

Yes! I'm trying to get right by the denton muscles those calves you know what I mean! Build the quads back to youth strength.
I can feel it now in my belly and the head.It is working realy good and my world is changing for running.I find it in copper hills.I used to do these hills assignments in 1974-76 before I got to WSU.
That is why I could run down the college kids very fast in 1976-80 and disappear in front. The hill workout is my rituals no kidding. Now I'm reminding those muscles to take in charge of running business.
Henry
You got it going in the right direction now, my friend! Winter will be over before you know it, and it will be springtime with nice weather and races for you to run. You want to be fit and trim by then. It sounds like you are finally turning the corner in that direction. Keep it going!!
