Parot, not sure you’ve noticed, but after Harambe got me banned a few weeks back for four days, I told the mods I would no longer respond to him, certainly not on Covid threads, and I haven’t. Wish I could say the same for him.
However, I’m asking you at what age do you think it’s appropriate for pro tennis players to retire? Should Djokovic wait until he’s 44? 42 perhaps? 39? Currently he is the only player in the top 50 in the world rankings and one of only two in the top 100 over the age of 35. Can’t remember the last time we had an over 35 in the top ten, though it was probably Federer.
I said Djokovic would be gone by 38 at the latest, and he turns 38 in three weeks. I wished he’d retired last year after winning Olympic gold, because pro athletes always stick around too long, only to fade into oblivion. Perhaps he will win another slam and prove me wrong. But I doubt it. He proved everyone else wrong with his Wimbledon final and Olympic gold last year, but nobody can out run Father Time.
